Attilios Ace Award: Caroline Masterleo, Living Word Academy girls volleyball. The Lions won a five-set match over Cato-Meridian on September 23 as Masterleo picked up 14 kills, helped on defense with 13 assists and also serving up three aces.
Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: Cara Macaluso, Christian Brothers Academy girls soccer. Macaluso stopped all seven shots she faced, anchoring a Brothers defense that managed to pull off a 1-0 victory over state Class C no. 1-ranked St. Mary’s on September 25.
CNY Sealing and Paving Defensive Standout: Dom Carroll, Liverpool football. All that Carroll has accomplished in back-to-back Warriors wins over Cicero-North Syracuse and Fayetteville-Manlius is accumulate 35 tackles to lead his team’s defensive unit.
Ethan Allen Award of Excellence: Cora Hindsill, Adirondack girls cross country. In a time of 20 minutes 36.5 seconds Hindsill earned the Small School division girls championship during the 81st E.J. Herrmann Invitational at Utica’s Proctor Park September 28.
Holbrook Heating and Air Conditioning Outstanding Athlete: Leah Randall, Clinton field hockey. Randall all but carried the Comets past Fayetteville-Manlius 4-3 on September 28 by scoring most of her three goals in the game’s latter stages.
The Image Press Icon: Landyn Bennett, Skaneateles girls swimming. Bennett, a freshman, was victorious in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle which helped the Lakers gain a 99-77 victory over Syracuse City on September 24.
Little York Plantation Play of the Week: Anthony Johnson, Cicero-North Syracuse football, running 20 yards for a touchdown in overtime that helped the Northstars pull out a 20-13 victory over West Genesee on September 27.
M. Lemp Jewelers Rewarding Effort: Jon Shoults, West Genesee Gold boys golf. Shoults shot an even-par 36 at Green Lakes and helped the Wildcats hand Fayetteville-Manlius Green its first defeat of the season 189-197 on September 23.
Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Peyton Matuszczak, Lowville boys soccer. Lowville scored in both the second half and overtime which helped Lowville pull out a 2-1 decision over Watertown on September 27.
North Syracuse Lawn and Snow Notable Effort: Kellen Conway, Liverpool boys volleyball. When the Warriors topped rival Cicero-North Syracuse on September 24 Conway continued to anchor his team’s efforts finishing with 19 assists and five digs.
Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Trevor Shawcross, Indian River football. When the Hawks outscored Westhill 60-45 on September 26, Shawcross ran wild on the Warriors, accumulating 310 yards on 25 carries and scoring five touchdowns.
O’Hara Electric Electrifying Play: McKinley Baker, Beaver River girls soccer, scoring the goal in overtime that helped the Beavers win a showdown of strong small-school Frontier League teams with Copenhagen by a 1-0 margin on September 27.
Onondaga Flooring Outstanding Achievement: Ean Piaschyk, Remsen boys cross country. During the 81st E.J. Herrmann Invitational at Utica’s Proctor Park September 28 Piaschyk won the Bill DeLude Varsity Small School race in a time of 17 minutes 17.3 seconds.
Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Mitch Donegan, Marcellus football. On just eight carries, Donegan piled up 193 yards and scored twice as the Mustangs charged past Southern Hills 55-18 on September 27 and improved to 4-0 on the season.
Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Student-Athlete: Julianne Delano and Rose Douglas, Fulton girls tennis. Delano and Douglas rallied past Emma Sroka and Madison Fredericksen in three sets to get the clinching point in a 4-3 victory over Auburn on September 26.
University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Colden Sheen, Bishop Ludden boys soccer, scoring in the second overtime period to help the Gaelic Knights stay undefeated and pull out a 1-0 decision over Faith Heritage on September 24.
Upstate Urology Upstart: Ian Carney, Waterville football. When Waterville shut out Sauquoit Valley 41-o on September 27 in eight-man football Carney threw for two touchdowns and ran for two others while gaining 110 yards on just four carries.
Wilkins RV Winning Player: Mallory Kline, Homer field hockey. When the Trojans beat the rival Cortland Purple Tigers 5-0 on September 23 Kline led Homer’s attack by scoring a pair of goals.
