Atlas Fence All-Star: Andre Turo, Faith Heritage boys track and field. Turo’s sweep of three events – the 110 high hurdles, long jump and triple jump – led the Saints to a second-place finish in the May 29 Section III Class C-4 championships at West Canada Valley.
B&B Lumber Big Mover: Matthew Smith, Auburn boys lacrosse. With his five goals and two assists, Smith led a mid-game surge as the Maroons stunned top seed and defending champion Christian Brothers Academy 12-11 in the May 30 Section III Class B semifinal.
Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: Josh Caruso, Utica Notre Dame baseball. Caruso threw three scoreless innings of relief which proved decisive when the Jugglers knocked off top seed South Lewis 5-4 in the May 30 Section III Class B semifinals.
Clifton Recycling Rewarding Effort: Ananya Bismarck, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill girls track and field. The Red Devils won the Section III Class B-2 championship on May 26 on its home track as Bismarck won the triple jump and high jump while taking second in the long jump.
Fire Brothers Red-Hot Performance: Mia Farone, Cicero-North Syracuse softball. It was Farone’s third-inning home which put the Northstars ahead for good as it defeated Rome Free Academy 7-1 in the Section III Class AAA final at Carrier Park on May 29.
F.W. Webb Winning Effort: Melissa Mondo, Westhill girls lacrosse. The Wolf Pack got away from Cazenovia 17-7 in the May 28 Section III Class D semifinal propelled by Mondo, who had eight points through her five goals and three assists.
The Image Press Icon: Remington Stull, McGraw softball. With a complete game in the pitcher’s circle plus three hits and three runs scored at the plate Stull led the Eagles to a 9-3 victory over Sandy Creek May 29 at Carrier Park to win the Section III Class C championship.
Iron Horse Gutters Mark of Greatness: Henry Lawrence, Marcellus boys lacrosse. Lawrence tied his career mark with seven goals and helped the Mustangs defeat Lowville 21-14 on May 30 to win the Section III Class D championship.
Little York Plantation Play of the Week: Dylan Wiggins, Liverpool baseball, getting two hits leading to four RBIs in the latter stages of the May 25 Section III Class AAA semifinal at Auburn’s Falcon Park helping the Legends knock off top seed Baldwinsville 11-3.
Mabey’s Moving and Storage Major Mover: Raynea Amezado, Nottingham girls track and field. Amezado’s victories in the 100 and 400-meter hurdles propelled the Bulldogs to the team title in the May 29 Section III Class A-2 championships at East Syracuse Minoa.
Mirbeau Inn and Spa Megastar: Giada Pezzlo, Oswego girls lacrosse. When the Buccaneers topped Central Square 11-9 in the May 26 Section III Class B quarterfinals Pezzlo had a central role finishing the night with five goals.
M. Lemp Jewelers Rewarding Effort: Sawyer McIntosh, Jamesville-DeWitt boys lacrosse. Pushing in most of his four goals in the first half, McIntosh helped the Red Rams rout New Hartford 15-3 and win yet another Section III Class C championship on May 30.
Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Danny Casatelli, Waterville boys track and field. Castaelli swept to victories in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200-meter races during the May 26 Section III Class C-3 championships at Dolgeville.
Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Grace Carguello, Pulaski girls track and field. The Blue Devils dominated the May 27 Section III Class C-2 championships at Clinton with Carguello claiming victories in both the 1,500 and 3,000-meter distance events.
O’Hara Electric Electrifying Play: New Hartford softball coming from behind twice, from an 8-1 deficit in the fifth inning and an 11-8 deficit in the sixth inning, to topple Chittenango 12-11 in the May 29 Section III Class A championship game at Carrier Park.
Onondaga Flooring Outstanding Achievement: Isaac Maxwell, West Canada Valley baseball. Maxwell’s trio of hit, including a triple, led to three RBIs as the Nighthawks defeated Frankfort-Schuyler 9-5 in the May 30 Section III Class C semifinal at Murnane Field.
Potter and Perone Special Performance: Caleb Bortz, Lowville boys lacrosse. In a high-scoring Section III Class D semifinal on May 29 Bortz’s 15 saves was a difference-maker as the Red Raiders upended LaFayette Onondaga 20-18.
Premier Hardwood Premier Player: Xavier Caesar, Christian Brothers Academy boys track and field. During the May 28 Section III Class B-1 championships at Central Square Caesar was victorious in both the 110-meter high hurdles and 400-meter dash.
Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Lucy Finch, Cincinnatus softball. Finch drove in a run, then doubled and scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Lions edged Fabius-Pompey 5-4 on May 29 at Carrier Park to win the Section III Class D championship.
Rockbridge Investment Management Risk Taker: Owen Johnson, Cortland baseball. Johnson tripled, singled and scored twice to propel the Purple Tigers past Camden 4-0 in the May 30 Section III Class A semifinal.
Senke CNY Garage Door Sensational Star: Daschel Pauly, General Brown boys lacrosse. Each of Pauly’s 14 saves was crucial for the Lions when it edged Westhill 11-10 in the May 23 Section III Class D quarterfinals.
Sierson Crane and Welding Superstar: Lily Kogut, Cazenovia girls track and field. The Lakers prevailed in the May 28 Section III Class C-1 championships at Holland Patent as Kogut won the 800-meter run, took second at 3,000 meters and was on the winning 4×800 relay team as the anchor.
Top Notch Roofing Top Star: Karter Kloster, Beaver River baseball. All that Kloster did in the Beavers’ 15-0 shutout of Onondaga in the May 28 Section III Class C quarterfinal was get a hit in all five of his trips to the plate – three singles and two doubles – while scoring four runs.
University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Fayetteville-Manlius softball holding off West Genesee 3-2 to win the Section III Class AA championship, the program’s first sectional title in 43 years.
U.S. Army Athlete of the Week: Dylan Frost, West Genesee boys track and field. Frost’s sweep of the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints proved the Wildcats’ highlight of the May 27 Section III Class A-1 championships at Cicero-North Syracuse’s Bragman Stadium.
Wilkins RV Winning Player: Gianna Thurlow, Fulton girls lacrosse. When the Red Dragons defeated Carthage 9-6 in the May 26 Section III Class C quarterfinals Thurlow was a key presence thanks to her three goals and two assists.
Wonder Windows Winning Performance: Jacob Jones, Morrisville-Eaton basbeball. Jones piled up four hits and drove in three runs leading the Mavericks past Madison 6-5 in the May 28 Section III Class C quarterfinals.
