APEX Ace Award: Ashlee Fisher, New Hartford girls volleyball. Serving up seven aces to go with her five kills and 12 digs Fisher led the Spartans to a three-set sweep of Camden on December 23 as it moved to 8-1 on the season.
Atlas Fence All-Star: Maxx Fesinger, West Genseee wrestling. Fensinger was victorious in the 170-pound division during the December 27 Windsor Christmas Tournament, improving his season’s record to a perfect 20-0.
Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: Sam Mooney, Pulaski boys basketball. Each of Mooney’s 19 points were important to the Blue Devils as it put together a 54-46 victory over Hannibal on December 23.
Energy Savers Defensive Standout: Reagan Hope, Hamilton girls basketball. Hope managed 12 rebounds to lead her side, adding eight points and four assists, as the Emerald Knights defeated Fayetteville-Manlius 45-36 on December 21.
The Image Press Icon: Jack Peenstra, Skaneateles boys basketball. Between his 23 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and three steals Peenstra did plenty to help the Lakers crush General Brown 77-43 on December 23.
JKS Roofing High Achiever: Cara Macaluso, Christian Brothers Academy girls basketball. The Brothers beat East Syracuse Minoa 43-36 in the first round of the Spartans’ own holiday tournament December 27 led by Macaluso scoring half her team’s points – 23 – including four 3-pointers.
Little York Plantation Play of the Week: Kamdyn Dorchester, Carthage wrestling, defeating Jamesville-DeWitt/CBA’s Mykola Fabian for the 285-pound title to help the Comets edge Hilton by half a point, 279-278.5, and take the title at the December 27 Teike-Bernabi Tournament at Spencerport.
M. Lemp Jewelers Rewarding Effort: Luke Beck, West Genesee ice hockey. All that Beck did was stop 21 of the 22 shots he faced as the Wildcats upended state no. 1-ranked Suffern 4-1 in the December 28 final of West Genesee’s holiday tournament.
Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Kade Schnedier, Beaver River boys basketball. Schneider’s strong start continued as he poured in 33 points to help the Beavers defeat Onondaga 75-62 on December 27.
North Syracuse Lawn and Snow Notable Effort: Juliana Dimao, Canastota girls basketball. Dimao did it all for the Raiders in a 42-32 win over Adirondack December 27 from notching 20 points to earning 10 rebounds and eight steals, just two steals short of a triple-double.
Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Nate Bustin, Cicero-North Syracuse ice hockey. Scoring twice, Bustin led a well-balanced Northstars attack as it defeated Broome County 6-3 in the December 28 opening round of its own C-NS Optimist Tournament.
O’Hara Electric Electrifying Play: A’briyah Cunningham, Liverpool girls basketball, earning her 1,000th career point on December 27 as part of a 27-point effort where Liverpool defeated St. Francis (Buffalo) 67-63 in the Amsterdam Holiday Showcase.
110 Grill Award of Excellence: Mason Rowley, Indian River boys basketball. The Wolves defeated Oneida 66-58 at Troy’s Hudson Valley Community College on December 27 led by Rowley putting up 19 points, four assists and three steals.
Onondaga Flooring Outstanding Achievement: Vinny Henricksen, Central Valley Academy wrestling. During the December 27 Mountain Duals Henricksen won seven of his eight bouts at both 116 and 124 pounds, moving his record for the season to 21-4.
Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Finn Hagan, Cazenovia ice hockey. With a goal and assist Hagan set the pace for a well-balanced Lakers offense as it defeated Syracuse 3-2 in the December 26 opening round of the Cortland-Homer Tournament.
Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Student-Athlete: Jahzar Greene, Bishop Ludden boys basketball. Carried by Greene’s 31 points the Gaelic Knights topped South Jefferson 54-46 in the December 28 finals of its own holiday tournament and stayed undefeated.
University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Nevaeh Nicholas, Fulton girls basketball, hitting on both free throws in the final seconds with her team down one in order for the Red Dragons to pull out a 41-40 victory over Lowville on December 23.
Wilkins RV Winning Player: Trent True, Holland Patent wrestling. True has won all 20 of his bouts this season and added the 190-pound championship in the December 28 Kenneth Haines Memorial at SUNY-Oswego to his ledger.
