Awards for 5/2/2026

APEX Amazing Athlete:  Alivia Henty-Goldberg, Liverpool softball. Henty-Goldberg rang up nine RBIs from two home runs, a double and a single when the Legends beat Christian Brothers Academy 21-7 on April 28.

Atlas Fence All-Star: A.J. Valente, Chittenango baseball. When the Bears defeated Marcellus 4-0 on April 30 Valente threw a no-hitter with nine strikeouts and also tripled in a run.

B&B Lumber Big Mover: Ayzlei Winans, East Syracuse Minoa flag football. Winans ran for 175 yards and two touchdowns while also recording 16 tackles on defense as the Spartans got a 25-13 victory over Syracuse West on April 27.

Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: Brylee Amato, Indian River girls lacrosse. The Hawks claimed an 11-8 decision over General Brown on May 1 largely due to the production from Amato who finished with five goals and three assists.

Clifton Recycling Rewarding Effort: Xavier Doty, Fulton boys lacrosse. Though better known for his basketball skills, Doty also has great stick skills as his four goals and three assists carried the Red Dragons past Syracuse City 9-7 on April 30.

Fire Brothers Red-Hot Performance: George Hicks, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill boys track and field. With his clean sweep of the 100, 200 and 400-meter sprints Hicks sparked the Red Devils as it routed rival Oneida 96-36 on April 29.

F.W. Webb Winning Effort: Gabriel Overend, Weedsport baseball. The Wolverines continued its undefeated run handling Hannibal 13-1 on April 28 as Overend homered, walked twice and finished with four RBIs.

The Image Press Icon: Hannah Ellerson, Cincinnatus softball. Ellerson was three-for-four and drove in three runs, a difference-maker as the Lions topped McGraw 5-2 in a clash of two undefeated small-school powerhouses on April 30.

Little York Plantation Play of the Week: Donovan Chaney, Cicero-North Syracuse boys lacrosse, scoring with 1:50 to play in regulation which helped the Northstars edge Liverpool 12-11 on May 1 and remain undefeated at 10-0.

Mabey’s Moving and Storage Major Mover: Ryan Pello, Pulaski boys golf. Pello shot an under-par 34 at Elms Golf Course helping the Blue Devils to its sixth consecutive victory when it handled Altmar-Parish-Williamstown 209-272 on May 1.

Mirbeau Inn and Spa Megastar: Leah Altieri, Clinton girls lacrosse. The Comets handled Bishop Ludden-Grimes 18-7 on May 2 sparked by Altieri, whose eight goals tied a career-best total and ran her season total to 49.

M. Lemp Jewelers Rewarding Effort:  Reese Kline, Homer girls track and field. Kline’s trio of titles in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash and triple jump all helped the Trojans pull away and defeat Cortland 107-32 on April 29.

Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Adam Gutowski, Whitesboro boys tennis. Undefeated this season, Gutowski’s 6-0, 6-3 win over Dylan Berg helped push Whitesboro to 6-0 on the season shutting out archrival New Hartford 5-0 on May 1.

Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Mike Oliviadoti, Utica Proctor baseball. Olivadoti singled, doubled and finished with three RBIs all helping the Raiders pull out an 8-7 decision over Vernon-Verona-Sherrill on April 30.

O’Hara Electric Electrifying Play: Carthage softball piling up 17 runs in the top of the third inning of a game against Watertown April 30, part of a doubleheader where the Comets scored a combined 39 runs in the two games to sweep the Cyclones.

Onondaga Flooring Outstanding Achievement: River Porter, LaFayette/Onondaga boys lacrosse. The Lancers maintained its momentum with an 18-3 victory over Homer on April 29 where Porter poured in four goals and added three assists.

Potter and Perone Special Performance: Ellie Kent, West Genesee girls golf. Kent shot an even-par 36 at Timber Banks as the Wildcats rolled to a 199-232 victory over Baldwinsville White on May 1.

Premier Hardwood Premier Player: Alayna Wood, Syracuse City girls lacrosse. Taking over in a 15-4 victory over Cortland on May 1, Wood managed to double the Purple Tigers’ entire output finishing the night with eight goals.

Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Ellah Wameling, Westmoreland flag football. The Bulldogs began a week of three straight wins topping Watertown 21-0 on April 27 as Wameling threw for 116 yards and two touchdowns to pace the offense.

Rockbridge Investment Management Risk Taker: Jace Albero, Baldwinsville baseball. Albero recorded 12 strikeouts and only allowed five hits as the Bees got its second shutout over Cicero-North Syracuse in as many days by a 2-0 margin on April 28.

Senke CNY Garage Door Sensational Star: Abby Hebble, Camden softball. When the Blue Devils knocked off reigning sectional Class AA champion Whitesboro 2-0 on May 2 Hebble starred in the pitcher’s circle overcoming five hits and three walks to earn the complete-game shutout.

Sierson Crane and Welding Superstar: Satriah Sikochi, Cazenovia girls track and field. Sikochi was victorious in the high jump and 200-meter dash as Cazenovia continued to dominate its Laker rivalry with Skaneateles on April 29 winning by a score of 114-27.

Top Notch Roofing Top Star: Everett Cox, Cato-Meridian boys track and field. Cox swept the 1,600 and 3,200-meter distance races when the Blue Devils recorded a 91-50 victory over Port Byron on April 29.

University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Westhill girls lacrosse having four different players – Melissa Mondo, Grace Stroman, Sophia Lasher and Madigan Burns – get their third goals during the Mustangs’ 15-9 win over Marcellus on April 27.

U.S. Army Athlete of the Week: Jameson Lettiere, Watertown IHC boys lacrosse. The Cavaliers defeated Utica Proctor 14-3 on May 2 and Lettiere got to double digits in points finishing with seven goals and three assists.

Wilkins RV Winning Player: Olivia Galletta, Dolgeville softball. Every bit of Galletta’s two doubles and five RBIs were needed for the Blue Devils to pull out a wild 17-16 decision over Waterville on May 2.

Wonder Windows Winning Performance: Shannon Ahern, Jordan-Elbridge baseball. Ahern pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts, added a double, RBI and two runs scored helping the Eagles roll past Homer 11-4 on April 30 to complete a two-game sweep of the Trojans.
