Awards for 9/26/2026

APEX Amazing Athlete: Alaina Peplinski, Faith Heritage girls soccer. Led by Peplinski’s two goals and one assist, the Saints earned a 4-1 victory over Altmar-Parish-Williamstown on September 25.

Atlas Fence All-Star: John Bishop, Homer football. The Trojans gained its first win of the season 47-42 over South Jefferson on September 25 as Bishop scored six touchdowns while gaining 276 yards on 27 carries.

B&B Lumber Big Mover:  Sofia Normanly, Cicero-North Syracuse field hockey. Netting the only goal of the game in the second quarter, Normanly kept the Northstars undefeated edging New Hartford 1-0 on September 22.

Big 4 Tire Big Time Performance: Lincoln Christopher, West Genesee Gold boys golf. The Wildcats avenged an earlier defeat to Fayetteville-Manlius Green 181-184 on September 23 with Christopher’s 34 at Pine Grove the best individual round.

Byrne Dairy and Deli Team of the Week: Phoenix girls volleyball. On a way to an 8-0 start which is the best in program history, the Firebirds have won 24 consecutive sets sweeping all of their eight opponents.

Clifton Recycling Rewarding Effort: Dan Kosakowski, Westmoreland/Oriskany boys soccer. During a 7-1 victory over Mount Markham on September 24 Kosakowski earned a three-goal hat trick and added a pair of assists.

Fire Brothers Red-Hot Performance: Zach Price, Jamesville-DeWitt boys volleyball. With 10 kills, four assists, four digs, two aces and three blocks Price led the Red Rams to a three-set sweep of Fayetteville-Manlius on September 25.

F.W. Webb Winning Effort: Ella Bowman, Watertown girls soccer. The Cyclones rolled to a 5-2 victory over General Brown on September 24 carried by Bowman earning three goals plus a pair of assists.

The Image Press Icon: Jason Doh, Utica Academy of Science boys soccer. It was Doh’s first-half goal which helped the undefeated Atoms get a 1-0 victory over state-ranked Frankfort-Schuyler on September 22.

Iron Horse Gutters Mark of Greatness: Elliana Page, Liverpool girls tennis. One game from defeat, Page rallied in three sets to top Abigail Jung and help the Legends knock off previously unbeaten Baldwinsville 4-3 on September 25.

Little York Plantation Play of the Week: Abby Hebble, Camden field hockey, scoring the only goal of the game in the first quarter which held up the rest of the way for the Blue Devils to defeat Holland Patent 1-0 on September 23.

Mabey’s Moving and Storage Major Mover: Brett Saunders, Herkimer football. Saunders completed 12 of 19 passes for 307 yards and three touchdowns leading the Magicians past previously unbeaten Beaver River 42-20 on September 25.

Mirbeau Inn and Spa Megastar: Ava Christodoulou, Bishop Ludden-Grimes girls volleyball. The Gaelic Knights claimed a five-set match over LaFayette on September 25 with Christodoulou earning 27 assists, 14 digs and five kills.

M. Lemp Jewelers Gem of the Week: Tritan Boucher, Skaneateles boys cross country. Boucher won an individual title in a five-team league meet on September 23 and then finished second in the small school varsity division in the Baldwinsville Invitational three days later.

Nye Automotive Male Athlete of the Week: Gabriel Wheeler, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill football. Wheeler rushed for three touchdowns, the longest of them from 44 yards out, as the Red Devils knocked off defending sectional Class B champion New Hartford 30-28 on September 25 and moved to 4-0 on the season.

Nye Automotive Female Athlete of the Week: Evelyn Rhodes, Cooperstown girls cross country. In 20 minutes 44.7 seconds Rhodes was victorious in the small-school division of the 83rd annual E.J. Herrmann Invitational in Utica on September 26.

O’Hara Electric Electrifying Play: Mark Barone, Rome Free Academy football throwing a 25-yard touchdown pass to Tyshawn Smith with 28 seconds left to help the Black Knights earn its first win over Utica Proctor since 2014 in a 27-26 classic on September 26.

Onondaga Flooring Outstanding Achievement: Allie Magro, Mexico girls swimming. The Tigers defeated South Lewis 87-71 on September 22 as on an individual basis Magro was victorious in both the 200 and 100-yard freestyle events.

Potter and Perone Special Performance: Alec Willey, South Jefferson boys golf. Willey shot a 38 to lead all individuals as the Spartans won a clash of top Frontier League teams on September 23 defeating Indian River 198-205.

Premier Hardwood Premier Player: Leah Bell, Cazenovia girls tennis. The Lakers avenged an earlier defeat to Christian Brothers Academy 5-2 on September 21 keyed by Bell’s 6-4, 7-6 singles win over Sarah Clark.

Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Tom Bernhardt, Thousand Islands football. Bernhardt threw for 204 yards and a touchdown and ran for 232 yards and five touchdowns carrying the Vikings past Clinton 50-42 on September 24.

Rockbridge Investment Management Risk Taker: Madelyn Donhauser, Baldwinsville girls cross country. Donhauser’s fifth-place finish in 19 minutes 13.9 seconds led the Bees to the team large-school division title at its own Baldwinsville Invitational on September 26.

Senke CNY Garage Door Sensational Star: Azizi Juma, Nottingham boys soccer. The Bulldogs pulled out a 2-1 victory over Central Square on September 22 led by Juma earning one goal and assisting on the other.

Top Notch Roofing Top Performer: Alison Knapp, Holland Patent field hockey. Knapp produced a three-goal hat trick leading the way for the Golden Knights as it shut out East Syracuse Minoa 5-0 on September 25.

University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Elaine Dussing, Manlius Pebble Hill girls soccer, scoring on a second-half penalty kick which proved the difference-maker in the Trojans’ 2-1 win over Faith Heritage on September 23.

U.S. Army Hometown Hero: Da’vonne Beckwith, PSLA-Fowler football. Beckwith scored on a 35-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter for the winning points as the Falcons earned a 22-18 victory over Oswego on September 24.

Wonder Windows Winning Performance: Avery Mitchell, Syracuse ITC girls volleyball. During a three-set sweep of Jordan-Elbridge on September 24 Mitchell set the pace for ITC with 14 assists, four aces and four digs.
