Awards for 11/1/2025

APEX Amazing Athlete: Gabriel Prosser, Living Word Academy boys volleyball. Prosser earned 26 assists and helped the Lions pull off a three-set sweep of the Oswego Buccaneers on October 29.

Atlas Fence All-Star: Cam Gilfus, Weedsport football. The Wolverines beat Weedsport 62-15 in the Section III Class D-2 semifinal as Gilfus led the defense recording eight tackles and also picking up an interception.

B&B Lumber Big Mover: Payton Landers, Cincinnatus girls soccer. Landers was unstoppable in the Lions’ 5-0 win over LaFargeville in the October 28 Section III Class D semifinal scoring four of the team’s goals and assisting on the other.

Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: Cam Dotter, Baldwinsville boys soccer. The Bees beat Utica Proctor 4-1 in the Section III Class AAA championship game October 30 as Dotter put in three goals to earn the hat trick.

CNY Softwash & Pressure Washing Superstar: Rocco Femia, Sauquoit Valley football. Femia rushed for 280 yards on 23 carries and scored five touchdowns for Sauquoit defeating Thousand Islands 40-28 in the opening round of the Section III eight-man football playoffs.

Fire Brothers Red-Hot Performance: Reed Luton, Onondaga boys cross country. During the October 29 OHSL Patriot division championship race at Tully Luton won the individual title in a time of 17 minutes 22.8 seconds.

F.W. Webb Winning Effort: Michael Shmat, Frankfort-Schuyler boys soccer. It was Shmat’s goal in the second half which was the difference-maker when the Maroons Knights topped Manlius Pebble Hill 1-0 in the October 29 Section III Class C semifinal.

The Image Press Icon: Matthew Moore, Beaver River football. Though the Beavers lost 40-26 to Cato-Meridian in the October 30 opening round of the Section III Class D playoffs Moore was sensational completing 20 of 34 passes for 324 yards and three touchdowns.

Little York Plantation Play of the Week: Josie Summa, Rome Free Academy field hockey, scoring in the fourth quarter to break a tie with Liverpool and help the Black Knights prevail 4-3 in the October 28 Section III Class A semifinal.

Mabey’s Moving and Storage Major Mover: Lexa Murphy, Central Square girls volleyball. Murphy picked up 13 assists and 15 digs, adding three kills as the Redhawks swept Corcoran in five sets in the October 30 Section III Class AA quarterfinal.

Mirbeau Inn and Spa Megastar: Wesley Dimperio, Morrisville-Eaton football. When the Mavericks beat Cooperstown 58-20 in the November 1 opening round of the Section III eight-man playoffs Dimperio scored three touchdowns gaining 154 yards on just seven carries.

M. Lemp Jewelers Rewarding Effort: Jayden Regan, Little Falls field hockey. Regan put together a three-goal hat trick and helped push the Mounties past Morrisville-Eaton 4-1 on November 1 to win the Section III Class D championship.

Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Nate Houck, Fayetteville-Manlius boys volleyball. The Hornets ended Jamesville-DeWitt’s long win streak in four sets on October 27 with Houck a key part of it thanks to his nine kills and seven digs.

Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Ayzlei Winans, East Syracuse Minoa girls soccer. Winans had three goals, along with an assist, which helped the Spartans roll past Whitesboro 8-0 in the October 29 Section III Class AA semifinals.

O’Hara Electric Electrifying Play: Anna Congelli, Tully girls cross country, edging teammate Alex Dickson by two-tenths of a second in a time of 19:12.7 on her home course to prevail in the October 29 OHSL Patriot division championships.

Onondaga Flooring Outstanding Achievement: Brendan Gruneich, New Hartford boys soccer. The Spartans routed Central Valley Academy 5-0 to win the Section III Class A championship on November 1 as Gruneich led a well-balanced attack with a goal and two assists.

Potter and Perone Special Performance: Tim Gomez, Dolgeville football. Gomez completed 11 of 16 passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns when the Blue Devils handled Herkimer 58-12 in the November 1 opening round of the Section III Class D playoffs.

Premier Hardwood Premier Player: Jackson Goodness, Westhill boys soccer. It was two goals from Goodness which helped the Wolf Pack pull away from Skaneateles and prevail 3-0 on November 1 to win the Section III Class B championship.

Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Bridget Petrus, West Genesee girls soccer. It was a goal by Petrus in the first half which was the difference-maker when the Wildcats beat East Syracuse Minoa 1-0 on November 1 to reclaim the Section III Class AA championship.

Rockbridge Management Investment Risk Taker: Ian Carney, Waterville football. Carney rushed for 174 yards on nine carries and scored twice for the Eagles as it defeated South Lewis 39-16 in the October 30 opening round of the Section III eight-man playoffs.

Senke CNY Garage Door Sensational Star: Amelia Pilon, Marcellus girls cross country. Just an eighth-grader, Pilon beat the field in the October 29 OHSL Liberty division championships with a time of 17:10.4 on her home course at Marcellus Park.

Sierson Crane and Welding Superstar: Connor McDonald, Whitesboro football. McDonald amassed five touchdown while gaining 267 total yards and helping Whitesboro roll past Central Square 49-21 in the October 30 opening round of the Section III Class A playoffs.

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Stellar Athlete: Zoie Karcz, Jordan-Elbridge girls volleyball. The Eagles swept Hannibal in three sets in the Section III Class C quarterfinals on October 29 as Karcz earned 15 assists and five aces plus three kills.

Top Notch Roofing Top Star: Alyssa Lessels, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill field hockey. Lessels netted the goal in overtime that helped the Red Devils defeat Camden 1-0 on November 1 and win the Section III Class D championship.

University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Gracie Sleeth, Liverpool girls soccer, making two big saves in the penalty-kick shootout which helped the Legends defeat Baldwinsville in the October 29 Section III Class AAA semifinal.

U.S. Army Athlete of the Week: Alex Porter, Fayetteville-Manlius boys soccer. Porter netted both goals for the Hornets when it topped Nottingham 2-1 on October 30 to win the Section III Class AA championship.

Wilkins RV Winning Player: Tritan Boucher, Skaneateles boys cross country. With a time of 14 minute 46.9 seconds Boucher was victorious in the individual portion of the October 29 OHSL Liberty championships at Marcellus Park.

Wonder Windows Winning Performance: Alisa Busuladzic, Oswego girls volleyball. Busuladzic led the Buccaneers with eight kills as it earned a three-set victory over Henninger in the October 29 Section III Class AA quarterfinals.
