AFLAC Amazing Athlete: Bill Mills, Mexico boys swimming. Mills was victorious in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke during the February 15 Section III Class B/C championships.

Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: Angelina Polcaro, East Syracuse Minoa girls basketball. When the Spartans beat Jamesville-DeWitt 41-36 on February 11 Polcaro had 13 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and five steals.

Empower Federal Credit Union Rewarding Effort: Alyssa Youngs, West Canada Valley girls indoor track and field. Youngs won the long jump and was second in the triple jump during the February 15 Section III state qualifying meet at SRC Arena.

Ethan Allen Award of Excellence: Santino Pedulla, Whitesboro ice hockey. With a three-goal hat trick and an assist, Pedulla pushed the Warriors past Auburn 6-1 in the February 14 opening round of the Section III Division II playoffs.

Fitness Forum/Ultimate Goal/Sports 481 Fabulous Effort: Charles Gaetano, New Hartford ice hockey. Gaetano’s two goals and one assists helped the Spartans beat Oswego 6-2 in the opening round of the Section III playoffs on February 15.

Holbrook Heating and Air Conditioning Outstanding Athlete: Cole Thomas, Chittenango boys volleyball. Helped by 31 assists and six kills from Thomas, the Bears stayed unbeaten February 14 with a five-set victory over Vernon-Verona-Sherrill.

Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Treyse Miller, Oswego boys swimming. Miller, the fourth seed, provided a surprise when he won the 100-yard breaststroke during the Section III Class A championships on February 14.

Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Luke Gilmartin, Westhill boys basketball. Gilmartin had 17 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals in the Warriors’ 64-55 victory over CBA on February 13.

Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Evan Haskins, Liverpool ice hockey. The Warriors shut out Fayetteville-Manlius 4-0 in the opening round of the Section III Division I playoffs February 14 as Haskins picked up a pair of goals.

Revitalize! CNY Rewarding Performance: Patrick Grimsey, Lowville wrestling. Grimsey won the 132-pound championship during the Section III DIvision II championships February 11 at SRC Arena and was named the meet’s Most Outstanding Wrestler.

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Student-Athlete: Truman Reminicky, Central Square boys swimming. With a total of 502.60 points, Reminicky earned a victory in the diving competition during the Section III championships on February 15.

University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Central Valley Academy boys basketball defeating Camden 76-43 February 14 to complete the only undefeated regular season for any basketball team in Section III.

Upstate Urology Upstart: Ella Trinkaus, Utica-Notre Dame girls basketball. The Jugglers defeated Holland Patent 64-56 on February 14 with Trinkaus amassing 33 points, 15 rebounds, six blocks, six steals and four assists.

U.S. Army Athlete of the Week: Dom Burris, West Genesee boys indoor track and field. Burris helped win the 4×200 relay and was third in both the 55-meter dash and long jump during the February 15 Section III state qualifying meet at SRC Arena.

Wilkins RV Winning Player: Uzziah Grimes, Rome Free Academy boys basketball. Grimes had 21 points, six rebounds and four steals as the Black Knights defeated New Hartford 62-50 on February 14.

Zero Draft Defensive Standout: Abbie Ainslee, Mount Markham girls volleyball. AInslee’s 34 digs helped the Mustangs edge Camden in five sets in the Section III Class C semifinal on February 15.
