Awards for 6/6/2026

APEX Amazing Athlete: Josh Olmstead, Beaver River baseball. Olmstead’s pair of triples led to three RBIs as the Beavers handled Trumansburg 14-1 in the June 2 opening round of the Class C state regional tournament.

Atlas Fence All-Star: Kaylin Murphy, Westhill girls lacrosse. The Wolf Pack won its first-ever Section III title defeating Marcellus 16-6 in the June 2 sectional Class D final at SUNY-Cortland with Murphy contributing a three-goal hat trick plus an assist.

B&B Lumber Big Mover: Olivia Hendrickson, Fulton girls track and field. The Red Dragons senior’s total of 3,149 points gave Hendrickson the title in the Class B pentathlon during the June 4 Section III state qualifying meet.

Clifton Recycling Rewarding Effort: Otto Moses, Marcellus boys lacrosse. Piling up 27 saves on 38 shot attempts, Moses was a difference-maker for Marcellus as it defeated Penn Yan 19-11 in the June 6 Class D regional finals.

Fire Brothers Red-Hot Performance: James Synakowski, Utica Notre Dame baseball. Synakowski singled twice and scored a pair of runs sparking the Jugglers to an 8-3 win over Bishop Ludden-Grimes on June 1 to take the Section III Class B championship.

F.W. Webb Winning Effort: Payton Gerrard, Cincinnatus softball. When the Lions defeated Herman DeKalb 4-1 in the June 5 Class D regional final Gerrard was sensational in the pitcher’s circle amassing 16 strikeouts to overcome six walks and three hits allowed.

The Image Press Icon: Makhi Coles, Indian River boys track and field. Coles won the 100-meter dash in 10.81 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 22.19 seconds during the Class B portion of the June 3 Section III state qualifying meet.

Iron Horse Gutters Mark of Greatness: Amie Valentine, Utica Proctor girls track and field. In the June 4 Section III state qualifying meet Valentine won the 400-meter dash in 58.90 seconds and added a second in the 200-meter dash.

Little York Plantation Play of the Week: Colin Crinnin, West Genesee baseball, singling home Jeremy Cilfton with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to propel the Wildcats past Bethlehem 3-2 and win its second straight regional Class AA championship on June 5 at Murnane Field in Utica.

Mabey’s Moving and Storage Major Mover: Haylee Bassett,  McGraw softball. Bassett earned a pair of hits and drove in the Eagles’ lone run during its 2-1 defeat to St. Lawrence in the June 5 Class C regional final.

Mirbeau Inn and Spa Megastar: Braeden Baker, Jamesville-DeWitt boys lacrosse. Handing out six assists to go with his lone goal, Baker helped the Red Rams rip past Honeoye Falls-Lima 16-4 in the June 6 Class C regional final.

M. Lemp Jewelers Rewarding Effort: Ellie Roberts, South Jefferson girls track and field. In the June 4 Section III state qualifying meet Roberts beat the field in the Class B 1,500-meter run and helped the Spartans take first in the 4×800 relay.

Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Damereon Gary, PSLA-Fowler boys track and field. With his 3,220 points Gary climbed to the top spot in the Class B pentathlon during the June 3 Section III state qualifier.

Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Nico Leone, Liverpool baseball. With clutch hits and tremendous defense at shortstop Leone sparked the Legends to a 3-1 victory over defending state champion Saratoga Springs in the June 5 Class AAA regional final.

O’Hara Electric Electrifying Play: Megan Woodridge, Fayetteville-Manlius softball, driving home the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning to help the Hornets defeat Columbia 6-5 on June 5 at Carrier Park to win the regional Class AA championship.

Onondaga Flooring Outstanding Achievement: Ashton Palmer, New Hartford baseball. When the Spartans routed Cortland 12-0 on June 1 to win the Section III Class A championship Palmer led at the plate doubling twice which produced five RBIs.

Potter and Perone Special Performance: Adriana Arthur, Watertown girls lacrosse. Arthur nearly carried the Cyclones to the Section III Class B championship on June 2 at SUNY-Cortland netting six goals during a 13-12 loss to Fayetteville-Manlius.

Premier Hardwood Premier Player: Connor Dautrich, Auburn boys lacrosse. When the Maroons stunned top seed Christian Brothers Academy 12-11 in the May 30 Section III Class B semifinal Dautrich was a major contributor finishing with four goals.

Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Eddie Wright, Oriskany baseball. Wright tripled, singled twice and scored twice sparking the Skyhawks to an 8-4 victory over McGraw on June 3 which produced another Section III Class D championship and kept the team undefeated.

Rockbridge Investment Management Risk Taker: Mila Owens, Cicero-North Syracuse softball. Owens pitched a complete game only allowing single runs in the first and sixth innings and keeping the Northstars close in a 2-0 defeat to Saratoga Spring in the June 5 regional Class AAA final at Carrier Park.

Senke CNY Garage Door Sensational Star: Jed Lloyd, Bishop Ludden-Grimes baseball. Lloyd pitched six innings in the Gaelic Knights’ 6-2 victory over Jordan-Elbridge in the May 30 Section III Class B semifinal amassing 11 strikeouts and only allowing four hits.

Sierson Crane and Welding Superstar: Josh Blanton, Carthage boys track and field. Blanton won the Class B 1,600-meter run in four minutes 29.15 seconds and was second in the 800-meter run during the June 3 Section III state qualifying meet.

Top Notch Roofing Top Star: Toran Zehr, Lowville boys lacrosse. Though the Red Raiders lost 21-14 to Marcellus in the May 30 Section III Class D championship game Zehr had a strong showing with four goals and two assists.

University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Sophia Lawrence, West Genesee girls lacrosse, scoring the goal with 45 seconds left to put her team in front and help the Wildcats defeat Cicero-North Syracuse 11-10 on June 2 for the Section III Class A championship.

U.S. Army Athlete of the Week: Amelia Nimey, New Hartford softball. Nimey went four-for-four with a double, three singles, five RBIs and four runs scored in the Spartans’ 21-0 romp over Canton in the Class A regional playoffs on June 3.

Wilkins RV Winning Player: Emma Dobrovech, Fayetteville-Manlius flag football. Dobrovech caught a 59-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter of the June 6 state Class B semifinal against Clarence to put the Hornets ahead for good in an eventual 24-14 victory.

Wonder Windows Winning Performance: Pearson Eckrich, Jamesville-DeWitt girls lacrosse. Eckrich stopped 20 of the 29 shots she faced, all of them important as the Red Rams edged Honeoye Falls-Lima 10-9 on June 6 and won the regional Class C championship.
