Atlas Fence All-Star: Julian Shay, Tully boys soccer. Netting both of his team’s goals, one in each half, Shay led the Black Knights to a 2-1 victory over the Hamilton Emerald Knights in the September 3 season opener for both teams.
Attilios Ace Award: Natalie Dauphinais, Baldwinsville girls volleyball. The Bees put up an impressive three-set sweep of 2023 state Class B finalist in its September 5 season opener led by Dauphinais, who served up a team-best four aces.
Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: Geremiah Ademola-Sadipe, Carthage football. All that Ademola-Sadipe accomplished in the Comets’ season-opening 28-6 victory over Central Square was carrying the ball 40 times for 319 yards and scoring all four of his team’s touchdowns.
CNY Sealing and Paving Defensive Standout: Reese Judd, Central Valley Academy field hockey. Even though the Thunder lost 1-0 in overtime to Mount Markham on September 7, Judd had an outstanding game in goal, pitching a shutout in regulation and finishing with 13 saves.
Ethan Allen Award of Excellence: Danny Casatelli, Waterville boys cross country. In the season-opening Mustang Invitational at Mount Markham September 7, Casatelli won the Varsity 1 division race in a time of 15 minues, 51.2 seconds.
Holbrook Heating and Air Conditioning Outstanding Athlete: Abby Scheidelman, Chittenango girls soccer. Scheidelman netted three-goal hat tricks in both of her team’s first two games, the six total goals leading to wins over Hannibal/Cato-Meridian and Canastota.
The Image Press Icon: Ni’Kari Richardson, Henninger football. Completing 13 of 21 passes for 218 yards and three touchdowns, Richardson led the Black Knights to a 29-14 win over PSLA/Fowler September 6, the program’s first victory in two years.
Little York Plantation Play of the Week: Finley Stonecipher, Cato-Meridian football, throwing a 73-yard touchdown pass to Cameron Hoag late in the third quarter to put the Blue Devils ahead for good as it defeated Mexico 32-22 on September 6.
M. Lemp Jewelers Rewarding Effort: Andrew Card, Central Square boys soccer. The Redhawks got off to a terrific start to its season with a 3-0 shutout of Auburn September 4 and Card had much to do with it earning two of his team’s three goals.
Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Ava Burns, South Jefferson girls swimming. Burns’ first-place finishes in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke helped lead the Spartans past Carthage 101-73 in the September 5 season opener.
North Syracuse Lawn and Snow Notable Effort: Jayden Reagan, Little Falls field hockey. When the Mounties defeated Fayetteville-Manlius 4-3 in the September 6 opening round of the Whitesboro Tournament Reagan led her side with two goals and one assist.
Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Avery Kielbasinski, Jamesville-DeWitt boys volleyball. The two-time defending state Division II champion Red Rams swept Living Word Academy in three sets September 5 for its 31st win in a row as Kielbasinski delivered 12 kills and three blocks.
O’Hara Electric Electrifying Play: Tom Helmer, Fayetteville-Manlius boys soccer, netting the only goal of the night to help the Hornets pull out a 1-0 decision over the Henninger Black Nights in the September 4 season opener.
Onondaga Flooring Outstanding Achievement: Sara Horning, Whitesboro girls tennis. Horning’s tough three-set victory over Valerie Raux was key to Whitesboro getting past Rome Free Academy 5-2 in a Tri-Valley League match on September 5.
Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Allie Poissant, Mexico girls soccer. Poissant put together a three-goal hat trick that helped the Tigers tear past Altmar-Parish-Williamstown 9-1 on September 5 in the season opener for both teams.
Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Student-Athlete: Joel Alvarez, East Syracuse Minoa boys soccer. Alvarez was unstoppable for the Spartans in a 6-1 win over reigning sectional Class B champion Marcellus September 6 at West Genesee, scoring three goals and adding two assists.
University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Johntae Smith, Auburn football, catching an eight-yard touchdown pass from Matt Smith in overtime to give the Maroons the winning points in a 20-14 decision over Fayetteville-Manlius on September 6.
Upstate Urology Upstart: Molly Myatt, Oneida girls cross country. Myatt’s time of 19 minutes 18.2 seconds beat the field by nearly a fully minute in Varsity Race 1 during the September 7 Mustang Invitational at Mount Markham High School.
Wilkins RV Winning Player: Kevin Waters, Oswego boys golf. The Buccaneers won the first Salt City Athletic Conference Empire division tournament of the season September 6 at Greenview as Waters shot a 37 for nine holes, the best individual score.
