Awards for 4/19/2025

APEX Ace Award: Braydon Wiseheart, Frankfort-Schuyler baseball. Wisehart threw a one-hitter with 15 strikeouts and also drove in a run in the Maroon Knights’ 6-0 win over Poland on April 17.

Atlas Fence All-Star: Hannah Reichard, Central Square girls lacrosse. The Redhawks got away from Syracuse City 15-7 on April 17 as Reichard had a part in nearly half the scoring plays earning four goals and three assists.

Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: Mike Santillo, East Syracuse Minoa boys lacrosse. Santillo finished with six goals and three assists helping the Spartans defeat Auburn 19-12 on April 15.

CNY Softwash & Pressure Washing Winning Achievement: Lucy Fleckenstein, Skaneateles girls track and field. Fleckenstein swept to victories in both the 800 and 1,500-meter runs during the April 15 Westhill Spring Break Invitational.

Hello Garage Game Changer: Alexis DeGroat, Oneida softball. DeGroat got three hits, walked twice, scored five runs and finished with four RBIs helping the Express top Vernon-Verona-Sherrill 28-10 on April 14.

The Image Press Icon: Caden Grygiel, Camden baseball. Grygiel doubled three times, added a walk and finished with four RBIs all pushing the Blue Devils to a 12-9 victory over Oneida on April 15.

JKS Roofing High Achiever: Jundito Guzman, Indian River boys tennis. Guzman won both singles and (with Jose Guzman) doubles matches which the Wolves needed to defeat Carthage 3-2 on April 17.

Little York Plantation Play of the Week: Charlie Lockwood, West Genesee boys lacrosse, pouring in his seventh goal in the second half of the Wildcats’ game at Baldwinsville on April 15, all of his goals important in the Wildcats’ 18-16 victory.

Mabey’s Moving and Storage Major Mover: Rachel O’Rourke, Rome Free Academy girls golf. The Black Knights won its season opener 190-266 over New Hartford on April 14 led by O’Rourke posting a nine-hole score of 39 at Rome Country Club.

M. Lemp Jewelers Rewarding Effort: Riley Trude, Fulton softball. Between her home run and two singles, Trude contributed three RBIs to the Red Dragons when it defeated East Syracuse Minoa 13-6 on April 17.

Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Isabelle Wormwood, Carthage girls lacrosse. When the Comets got a 13-9 victory over General Brown April 16 Wormwood had a lot to do with it earning four goals and four assists.

North Syracuse Lawn and Snow Notable Effort: Isaac Maxwell, West Canada Valley baseball. Maxwell’s complete-game, two-hit, 11-strikeout effort on the mound plus three RBIs at the plate led the Nighthawks past Westmoreland 16-0 on April 18.

Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Raelee McDowell, Port Byron softball. Between her double, two singles, walk and four runs scored McDowell provided the spark for the Panthers handling Jordan-Elbridge 12-1 on April 17.

O’Hara Electric Electrifying Play: Ta’kai Baker, Syracuse East flag football, scoring both touchdowns which helped Syracuse East shut out Baldwinsville 13-0 on April 17 in a rematch of last year’s Section III Division I final.

110 Grill Award of Excellence: Bella Gates, Cicer0-North Syracuse girls lacrosse. Gates set a career mark with six goals and added an assist helping the Northstars rout previously unbeaten Westhill 22-12 on April 18.

Onondaga Flooring Outstanding Achievement: Riley Clemons-Butenko, Christian Brothers Academy baseball. Clemons-Butenko homered and doubled to help the Brothers beat Bishop Ludden 8-1 April 17 at Gutchess Park.

Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Antwan Hicks, Solvay boys track and field. During the April 15 Westhill Spring Break Invitational Hicks won the 200-meter dash in 22.95 seconds and the long jump going 20 feet 9 inches.

Senke CNY Garage Door Sensational Star: Dycen Nanticoke, LaFayette/Onondaga boys lacrosse. Nanticoke’s three-goal hat trick plus an assist keyed the Lancers’ strong effort as it topped Homer 13-7 on April 17.

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Student-Athlete:  Avery Shute, Marcellus girls lacrosse. When the Mustangs fought its way past General Brown 15-14 on April 14 it needed every bit of Shute’s six goals to pull it out.

University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Maria Sweet, Oswego softball, earning 15 strikeouts to become the Buccaneers program’s all-time leader in strikeouts surpassing Abby Martin’s 591 during a 3-2 defeat to Christian Brothers Academy on April 17.

Wilkins RV Winning Player: Dean Koenig, Oriskany baseball. Koening went three-for-four with a double, two singles and four RBIs helping Oriskany roll past New York Mills 14-2 on April 14.
