Awards for 4/15/2023

AFLAC Amazing Athlete: Gannon Kessler, Jamesville-DeWitt boys lacrosse. With his five goals and four assists, Kessler was vital for the Red Rams in defeating West Genesee 16-7 on April 11.

Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: Abby DelFavero, Jordan-Elbridge softball. When the Eagles shut out Fabius-Pompey 15-0 on April 12, DelFavero threw a five-inning perfect game, striking out 12 of the 15 batters she faced.

Empower Federal Credit Union Rewarding Effort: Cody Jarabeck, Port Byron baseball. Going four-for-four with three runs scored and two RBIs, Jarabeck helped the Panthers battle past LaFayette 10-7 on April 11.

Ethan Allen Award of Excellence: Lena Turaj, Hannibal girls track and field. Turaj managed victories in the 110 hurdles, 400 hurdles, long jump and triple jump during the Warriors’ 84-36 win over Solvay on April 12.

Fitness Forum/Ultimate Goal/Sports 481 Fabulous Effort: Lauren Machan, Chittenango softball. The Bears blasted Mexico 18-1 on April 13 as Machan twice belted home runs, added two singles and finished with six RBIs.

Holbrook Heating and Air Conditioning Outstanding Athlete: Cameron Payne, Pulaski baseball. The Blue Devils blew out Onondaga 22-6 on April 13 as Payne, with his three hits, produced five RBIs.

Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Ryan Sullivan, East Syracuse Minoa boys track and field. Sullivan won the 110 hurdles, triple jump and high jump in the Spartans’ sweep of PSLA Fowler and Auburn on April 12.

Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Natalie Long, Auburn girls lacrosse. With her career-best seven goals, Long helped the Maroons pull away from Syracuse City and prevail 21-11 on April 11.

Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Zoe Gordon, Phoenix girls track and field. The Firebirds beat Christian Brothers Academy 72-45 on April 12 led by Gordon, who was first in the 1,500, 110 hurdles, 400 hurdles and high jump.

Revitalize! CNY Rewarding Performance: Adam Rayfield, Marcellus boys lacrosse. Rayfield erupted for eight goals and the Mustangs needed all of them to defeat Ballston Spa 10-7 on April 13 and move to 6-0 on the season.

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Student-Athlete: Tyler Mills, Fulton boys track and field. Mills prevailing in the 100-meter dash and long jump helped the Red Raiders edge Cortland 69-62 on April 12.

University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Westhill baseball scoring a run in the sixth inning and three runs in the seventh to rally past Hannibal 5-3 on April 13 and claim its fourth consecutive victory.

Upstate Urology Upstart: Abby Geary, Liverpool girls lacrosse. Geary’s two goals and three assists helped the Warriors claim a 12-11 victory over Fayetteville-Manlius on April 13.

U.S. Army Athlete of the Week: Onora Vandervort, Altmar-Parish-Williamstown softball. With a triple, three singles and six RBIs, Vandervort helped the Rebels handle Weedsport 20-0 on April 11.

Wilkins RV Winning Player: Kristian Matthews, Whitesboro boys lacrosse. Needing Matthews’ three goals and one assist, the Warriors fought its way past Rome Free Academy 7-6 on April 13.

Zero Draft Defensive Standout: Arianna Bailey, Central Square girls lacrosse. When the Redhawks defeated East Syracuse Minoa 13-10 on April 12, Bailey earned 11 saves to keep her team in front.
