Atlas Fence All-Star: Misha Kabunov, Jamesville-DeWitt/CBA boys swimming. Kabunov roared to a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle and All-American consideration during the March 8 NYSPHSAA championship meet at Ithaca College.
Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: Freddy Fowler, Liverpool boys basketball. Fowler netted his team’s last 14 points and 23 points in all as the Warriors upended unbeaten top seed Rome Free Academy 70-65 in the March 4 Section III Class AAA semifinals.
The Image Press Icon: Erin Trinkaus, Utica Notre Dame girls basketball. In the Jugglers’ 59-44 win over Indian River in the March 3 Section III Class A semifinals Trinkaus put together her own double-double finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
JKS Roofing High Achiever: Ryan Rauber, Tully boys indoor track and field. With a time of 34.12 seconds Rauber won the NYSPHSAA portion of the 300-meter dash during the March 8 state championship meet at Staten Island.
Little York Plantation Play of the Week: Eli Prince, Westhill boys basketball, getting to 1,000 career points while netting 29 points and getting 16 rebounds in the Warriors’ 68-44 win over South Jefferson in the March 3 Section III Class A semifinals.
Mabey’s Moving and Storage Major Mover: Justin Buffum, CBA/Jamesville-DeWitt ice hockey. Buffum recorded 39 saves to keep the Brothers close in the Section III Division II championship game it lost 3-2 in overtime to Skaneateles.
M. Lemp Jewelers Rewarding Effort: Brooke Wiley, General Brown girls basketball. Wiley finished with 26 points and helped the Lions fight past Marcellus 61-51 in the March 3 Section III Class B semifinals.
Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Nick Pompo, Baldwinsville boys swimming. For the second year in a row Pompo had a podium finish taking fifth place in the diving competition during the March 7 NYSPHSAA championships at Ithaca College.
North Syracuse Lawn and Snow Notable Effort: Jacob Wagner, Chittenango boys volleyball. When the Bears defeated Ichabod Crane in three sets to repeat as regional Class B champions March 1 Wagner stepped up to post 10 kills, tying his season-best mark.
Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Emma Johnson, Cooperstown girls basketball. Earning 16 points and adding six rebounds, Johnson led the Hawkeyes past West Canada Valley 60-58 in the March 4 Section III Class C semifinals.
O’Hara Electric Electrifying Play: Liam Sheard, Bishop Ludden boys basketball, blocking two shots in the final minute which helped the Gaelic Knights defeat Liverpool 54-50 and win the Section III Class AAA championship March 8 at SRC Arena.
110 Grill Award of Excellence: Nick Domashenko, Fayetteville-Manlius boys indoor track and field. Domashenko was second by one-hundredth of a second in a time of 6.36 seconds during the March 8 NYSPHSAA championships on Staten Island.
Onondaga Flooring Outstanding Achievement: Anoveah Housley, PSLA Fowler girls indoor track and field. Fowler’s long jump of 18 feet 1 1/4 inches gave her a seventh-place overall finish and place on the podium during the March 8 NYSPHSAA championships on Staten Island.
Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Christian Ball, West Genesee ice hockey. Ball’s pair of goals in the second and third period helped the Warriors knock off Orchard Park 6-4 in the Division I regional final March 8 at Buffalo’s Harborcenter.
Senke CNY Garage Door Sensational Star: Justin LaMunion, Madison boys basketball. Finishing with 27 points and 15 rebounds, LaMunion led the Blue Devils to an 80-60 victory over DeRuyter in the March 4 Section III Class D semifinals.
Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Student-Athlete: Jake Latino, Sauquoit Valley boys volleyball. Latino earned 16 assists and led Sauquoit to a three-set victory over Catskill on March 1 that helped deliver the regional Class C championship.
University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Luke Mizro, Skaneateles ice hockey, scoring the goal in overtime which gave the Lakers a 3-2 victory over CBA/Jamesville-DeWitt March 3 at the Syracuse War Memorial to win the Section III Division II championship.
Wilkins RV Winning Player: Peyton Britton, Sackets Harbor girls basketball. The Patriots knocked off Watertown IHC 48-36 in the March 3 Section III Class D semifinal with Britton at the forefront thanks to her total of 18 points and six rebounds.
