AFLAC Amazing Athlete: Allyson McConville, Morrisville-Eaton field hockey. The Warriors moved to 14-2 on the season with a 5-0 shutout of Central Valley Academy on October 12 as McConville anchored the attack earning three assists. Atlas Fence All-Star: Ellie Roberts, South Jefferson girls cross country. Roberts’ third-place individual finish on her home course helped lead the Spartans to the team title during the October 10 Frontier League championship meet. Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: X’Zavion Streiff, Bishop Ludden. The Gaelic Knights surprised Solvay 45-33 on October 13 as Streiff threw for 211 yards and a touchdown and also ran for 77 yards on eight carries and a score. Empower Federal Credit Union Rewarding Effort: June Pioroeski, Liverpool girls swimming. Pioroeski, with a total of 445.4 points, pulled off a surprising victory during the October 14 Salt City Dive Invitational at Nottingham High School. Ethan Allen Award of Excellence: Samantha Stokley, Copenhagen girls soccer. The Gold Knights defeated Sackets Harbor 3-1 to improve to 14-1-1 on the season October 12, carried by Stokley, who netted two of her team’s goals and assisted on the other. Fitness Forum/Ultimate Goal/Sports 481 Fabulous Effort: Jackson Petzoldt, Cicero-North Syracuse boys soccer. Netting both of his team’s goals, Petzoldt pushed Northstars past West Genesee 2-0 on October 12 in a rematch of last year’s Section III Class AA final. Holbrook Heating and Air Conditioning Outstanding Athlete: Mason Ennist, Sandy Creek football. The Comets stayed unbeaten, holding off Mount Markham 28-18 on October 13 as Ennist ran 32 times for 231 yards and scored all four of his team’s touchdowns. Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Rhyanne Johnson, Camden field hockey. Helped by Johnson’s pair of goals, the Blue Devils earned a 3-1 victory over New Hartford on October 11. Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Emma Effinger and Lauren Franco, Homer girls tennis. Effinger and Franco swept Oneida’s Myah Rainbow and Juliana Caroli to win the Section III Division II doubles championship on October 12. Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Lucia Englehardt, Nottingham girls volleyball. The Bulldogs prevailed in four sets over city rival Henninger on October 10 with Engelhardt at the forefront as she a new career mark with 19 aces. Revitalize! CNY Rewarding Performance: Chris Cleary, Fayetteville-Manlius boys volleyball, Amassing 25 kills, Cleary was a key contributor for the Hornets as it fended off an upset bid from Oswego and prevailed in five sets on October 14. Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Student-Athlete: Miley Basilio, Baldwinsville girls gymnastics. Basilio, with a fine all-around score of 35.9, was the leader for the Bees in its 129.7-101.8 victory over Central Square on October 12. University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Alexa Marsh, Liverpool girls soccer, scoring on a penalty kick in the second half to help her team defeat state Class A no. 9-ranked Westhill 1-0 in the October 14 regular-season finale for both sides. Upstate Urology Upstart: Jack Williams, Westmoreland/Oriskany football. Williams’ pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns, one of them a 51-yard run, allowed the Bulldogs to rally and defeat Herkimer 30-21 on October 13. U.S. Army Athlete of the Week: Isabelle Soderberg, Skaneateles girls tennis. Defeating her teammate Eva DeJesus in straight sets, Sodeberg ended up the singles champion in the Section III Division II championships on October 12. Wilkins RV Winning Player: Joe Berry, Hamilton boys cross country. With a time of 16 minutes, 46.14 seconds, Berry pulled away with the individual title during the October 14 Coughlin Invitaitonal at Rome Free Academy. Zero Draft Defensive Standout: Madeleine Brown-Paul, Tully girls soccer. With her eight saves, Brown-Paul helped the Black Knights stun unbeaten, state Class D no. 2-ranked Bishop Ludden 2-1 on October 10.
