AFLAC Amazing Athlete: Xander Kenniston, Central Valley Academy football. Gaining 124 yards on just eight carries, Kenniston led the Thunder to a 26-7 victory over Oneida on October 20 to improve to 6-2 on the season. Atlas Fence All-Star: Mona Farah, Jamesville-DeWitt girls tennis. It was Farah emerging victorious in the singles division during the October 17-19 Section III state qualifier at Drumlins Tennis Club, beating Baldwinsville’s Ayla Kalfass in the finals. Attilios Ace Award:  Addison Sheridan, Corcoran girls volleyball. Picking up six aces to go with her eight kills, Sheridan helped the Cougars get a three-set sweep over city rival Henninger in the October 19 regular-season finale. Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: Molly Myatt, Oneida girls cross country. In a time of 20 minutes, 46.2 seconds, Myatt worked through the rain to take the individual title during the October 21 Tri-Valley League championships at Holland Patent. CNY Sealing and Paving Defensive Standout: Logan Lando, Sandy Creek football. Lando’s 70-yard interception return sparked the Comets to defeat Cato-Meridian 28-6 on October 20 and complete an undefeated regular season. Empower Federal Credit Union Rewarding Effort: Hannah Smith, Whitesboro girls soccer. The Warriors beat Watertown 2-1 in the October 19 Section III Class AA quarterfinal as Smith netted one goal and assisted on the other, by Hannah Phillips. Ethan Allen Award of Excellence: Jackson Petzoldt, Cicero-North Syracuse boys soccer. Scoring both of his team’s goals, Petzoldt led the Northstars past Rome Free Academy 2-0 in the Section III Class AAA quarterfinals on October 19. Fitness Forum/Ultimate Goal/Sports 481 Fabulous Effort: Ava Burns, South Jefferson girls swimming. Burns earned first-place finishes in both the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard backstroke during the October 21 Frontier League championship meet. Holbrook Heating and Air Conditioning Outstanding Athlete: Daniel Dunn, Oswego boys cross country. Dunn was the top individual as he led the Buccaneers to taking the Salt City Athletic Conference Empire division championship October 18 at Baldwinsville. M. Lemp Jewelers Rewarding Effort: Grayson Gall, New Hartford girls gymnastics. Scoring 9.80 on balance beam and 38.10 all-around, Gall easily claimed both titles, along with vault and uneven bars, in the October 20 Section III championships. Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Martino Rocco, Frankfort-Schuyler football. Rocco ran for 164 yards and a touchdown and earned 13 tackles on defense in the unbeaten Maroon Knights’ 50-6 romp over Morrisville-Eaton on October 20. Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Ethan Nguyen, Syracuse boys volleyball. Syracuse earned its first-ever victory over Cicero-North Syracuse in three sets on October 20 led by Nguyen’s 11 kills and three aces. Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Abby McKay, Port Byron/Union Springs field hockey. McKay’s four goals and two assists sparked the Panthers to a 9-0 win over Sauquoit Valley in the October 18 opening round of the Section III Class D playoffs. Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Student-Athlete: Cassia Schuyler, Cincinnatus girls soccer. The undefeated Lions turned back Sackets Harbor 7-1 in the October 21 Section III Class D quarterfinal, Schuyler amassing three goals and two assists. University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Andrew Ward, Fabius-Pompey boys soccer, scoring in overtime to help the Falcons stun unbeaten, top-seeded Frankfort-Schuyler 1-0 in the October 20 Section III Class C quarterfinals. Upstate Urology Upstart: Robert Atkins, Cortland football. When the Purple Tigers defeated Southern Hills 35-28 on October 19, Atkins threw 21 passes, completing 17 of them for 182 yards and a pair of touchdowns. U.S. Army Athlete of the Week: Nadia Frigon, Central Square girls volleyball. The Redhawks upended Fulton in four sets on October 19, fueled by Frigon picking up 27 assists and adding 12 digs. Wilkins RV Winning Player: Emily Kane, Cooperstown girls swimming. Kane put together first-place finishes in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke during the October 20 Tri-Valley League championship meet.
