APEX Ace Award: Lulu Cuthbertson, Sauquoit Valley softball. Throwing a two-hitter with eight strikeouts, Cuthbertson helped Sauquoit defeat Morrisville-Eaton 2-0 in nine innings in the May 24 opening round of the Section III Class C playoffs.
Atlas Fence All-Star: Rhys Kennedy, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill boys lacrosse. The Red Devils handled Holland Patent 17-11 on May 17 with a big part in it from Kennedy, who poured in four goals and tacked on five assists.
Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: Jael Hill, Westhill girls track and field. With victories in the shot put and discus, Hill was a key factor in the Warriors roaring to victory in the May 19 OHSL Liberty division large-school championships.
CNY Softwash & Pressure Washing Winning Achievement: Reese Ferstler, Chittenango girls lacrosse. With her five goals and two assists Ferstler led the Bears past Southern Hills 13-11 in the May 22 opening round of the Section III Class C playoffs, the program’s first sectional win in more than 20 years.
The Image Press Icon: Max Overend, Solvay baseball. When the Bearcats shut out Marcellus 8-0 on May 21, Overend pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts and just two hits allowed, also getting two hits and an RBI at the plate.
Little York Plantation Play of the Week: Tucker Ives, Cazenovia boys lacrosse, sending a 70-yard shot into the net, the goalie netting the game-winner in overtime to help the Lakers knock off Tully 10-9 on May 19 in a game where he also made 21 saves.
Mabey’s Moving and Storage Major Mover: Nate Houghton, Tully boys track and field. The Black Knights won the May 21 OHSL Patriot division championship meet led by Houghton sweeping to first place in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200-meter distance events.
M. Lemp Jewelers Rewarding Effort: Mason Doan and Ethan Haahr, Baldwinsville boys tennis. Doan and Haahr won four straight matches in straight sets on their way to the Section III Division I championship on May 19 and 20.
Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Jon Shoults, West Genesee. Shoults on the same day competed in the Section III boys golf state qualifier (eventually finishing fourth) and then was in goal for boys lacrosse as the Wildcats beat East Syracuse Minoa to complete an undefeated regular season.
North Syracuse Lawn and Snow Notable Effort: Ainsley Albrecht, Central Valley Academy softball. Albrecht’s home run, triple, double and five RBIs led the Thunder past Homer 30-18 in the May 23 opening round of the Section III Class A playoffs.
Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Trent Gardner, Carthage boys lacrosse. Gardner’s four goals all but carried the Comets’ attack as it recorded a 6-3 victory over Indian River on May 19.
O’Hara Electric Electrifying Play: Luke Lafayette, New Hartford baseball, delivering a sixth-inning two-out single that scored the go-ahead run to help the Spartans battle past Utica Proctor 2-1 on May 19.
110 Grill Award of Excellence: Myah Keenan, Fabius-Pompey girls track and field. Keenan put together first-place finishes in the 400-meter hurdles and 3,000-meter run during the May 20 OHSL Patriot division championships.
Onondaga Flooring Outstanding Achievement: Aliana DiBlasi, Oswego girls lacrosse. With her five goals and three assists, DiBlasi sparked the Buccaneers to a 14-6 victory over Syracuse City on May 19.
Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Austin Robinson, Altmar-Parish-Williamstown baseball. Robinson’s complete-game, eight-strikeout effort plus two hits and a run scored helped lead the Rebels past Weedsport 3-1 on May 20.
Senke CNY Garage Door Sensational Star: Emmit Porter, Cicero-North Syracuse boys lacrosse. Porter keyed the Northstars’ 7-4 win over Liverpool in the May 24 Section III Class A quarterfinal by winning 11 of the 15 face-offs he took and adding a goal.
Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Student-Athlete: Henry Schweitzer, Clinton boys track and field. The Comets won the Center State Conference Division I title on May 21 in Dolgeville as Schweitzer was victorious in the 200 and 400-meter sprints.
University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Olivia Cook, Cicero-North Syracuse flag football, throwing to Piper Adams for the winning touchdown in overtime to help the Northstars defeat Liverpool 12-6 in the Section III Class A semifinals on May 23.
Wilkins RV Winning Player: Tyler Cranfield, Cortland boys tennis. Without dropping a set, Cranfield beat four straight opponents including CBA’s Chanu Yang in the final on the way to the Section III Division II singles championship.
