Awards for 5/17/2025

APEX Ace Award: Gavin Johnson, Carthage baseball. Throwing a two-hit complete game with seven strikeouts, Johnson had to be sharp as the Comets earned a 2-0 victory over Indian River on May 13.

Atlas Fence All-Star: Violin Collier, Nottingham girls track and field. Collier’s victories in the 100 and 200-meter dash plus a leg in the winning 4×100 relay helped the Bulldogs tie East Syracuse Minoa for first in the May 15 SCAC Empire division championships at Oswego.

Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: Mac Fitzgerald, Oswego boys lacrosse. The Buccaneers finally got into the win column on May 13 defeating Thousand Islands 16-9 led in a big way by Fitzgerald pouring in five goals and adding two assists.

CNY Softwash & Pressure Washing Winning Achievement: Camryn Shenk, Camden softball. When the Blue Devils defeated Utica Notre Dame 7-1 on May 13 Shenk did all the damage at the plate from a grand slam to a single that added up to six RBIs.

The Image Press Icon: Chanu Yang, Christian Brothers Academy boys tennis. Yang’s come-from-behind, three-set win over Nathan Smith in first single helped the Brothers knock off top seed Baldwinsville 4-1 in the May 16 Section III Class A semifinals.

Little York Plantation Play of the Week: Gianna D’Eredita, Solvay softball, hitting a three-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to erase a two-run deficit and help the Bearcats defeat Christian Brothers Academy 5-4 on May 15.

Mabey’s Moving and Storage Major Mover: Sophia Lasher, Westhill girls lacrosse. Lasher’s four goals and one assist were a key component of the Warriors ending Skaneateles 10-game win streak and prevailing 10-9 in overtime on May 12.

M. Lemp Jewelers Rewarding Effort: Symir Price, PSLA Fowler boys track and field. During the May 15 SCAC championships at Oswego Price posted the best performance in either division during the pentathlon winning that event with 3,387 points.

Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: David Lohrmann, South Jefferson baseball. When the Spartans shut out General Brown 12-0 on May 11, Lohrmann threw a complete game limiting the Lions to two hits while recording 12 strikeouts.

North Syracuse Lawn and Snow Notable Effort: Olivia Snodgrass, Weedsport girls track and field. Snodgrass earned wins in the 1,500 and 800-meter runs which helped the Wolverines edge past Port Byron 68-66 on May 14.

Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Jimmy Cox, Marcellus boys lacrosse. When the Mustangs defeated Christian Brothers Academy 20-13 on May 16 Cox served as a focal point of the offense thanks to five goals and one assist.

O’Hara Electric Electrifying Play: Camron Ingram, Cicero-North Syracuse boys track and field, winning the 110 high hurdles during the May 10 Loucks Games and then adding 100 and 200-meter titles in the SCAC Metro division meet five days later.

110 Grill Award of Excellence: Emma Zyskowski, Whitesboro softball. Zyskowski’s home run and two RBIs were key to Whitesboro ending state Class A no. 8-ranked Chittenango’s 13-game win streak in a 5-2 decision on May 15.

Onondaga Flooring Outstanding Achievement: Micaela Jennings, Fayetteville-Manlius girls lacrosse. Jennings, in goal, stopped 16 of the 24 shots she faced helping the Hornets complete a regular-season sweep of West Genesee by a score of 13-8 on May 15.

Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Camden Thomas, General Brown boys lacrosse. In a tight battle with South Jefferson on May 15 Thomas, with his four goals, helped to propel the Linos to an 11-9 victory.

Senke CNY Garage Door Sensational Star: Ben Carroll, Bishop Grimes baseball. Carroll’s two doubles and a single produced six RBIs which helped the Cobras handle Weedsport 13-3 on May 16.

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Student-Athlete:  Ananya Bismarck, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill girls track and field. Bismarck swept to titles in both the long jump and triple jump during the May 13 Tri-Valley League Invitational at VVS.S

University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Chittenango boys tennis team breaking a title drought of more than 30 years when it defeated Jamesville-Dewitt 4-1 to earn the Section III Class B championship May 14 at Oneida High School.

Wilkins RV Winning Player: Sam Andrews, Adirondack boys golfer. Breaking par with a 35 for nine holes, Andrews was seven shots better than anyone else as the Wildcats defeated Little Falls 166-188 on May 16.
