Awards for 4/29/2023

AFLAC Amazing Athlete: Michael Flint, Rome Free Academy baseball. Flint went four-for-four and added a walk, setting the tone as the Black Knights gave Camden its first loss of the season 14-2 on April 24.

Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: Anna Bednarz, Fulton girls lacrosse. Reaching double-digit points, Bednarz, with seven goals and three assists, helped Fulton outscore Syracuse City 23-10 on April 25.

Empower Federal Credit Union Rewarding Effort: Raiyah Patterson, Utica Proctor girls track and field. Just a seventh-grader, Patterson won the 100 and 200-meter sprints and helped Proctor win at home in the April 24 Cook-DiStefano Invitational.

Ethan Allen Award of Excellence: Nicole Namisiniak, Port Byron softball. When the Panthers beat Fabius-Pompey 24-2 on April 25, Namisiniak dominated at the plate with four hits, including a triple, and a career-best seven RBIs.

Fitness Forum/Ultimate Goal/Sports 481 Fabulous Effort: Troy Brown, Weedsport boys track and field. During the April 22 Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Invitational Brown was victorious in both the 100-meter dash and long jump.

Holbrook Heating and Air Conditioning Outstanding Athlete: Zeke Mohat, Tully baseball. The Black Knights got an impressive 8-1 win over LaFayette April 26 led by Mohat pitching a complete game, striking out 11 and only allowing five hits.

Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Dan Freidel, New Hartford boys lacrosse. When the Spartans romped past rival Whitesboro 20-4 on April 27, Freidel was unstoppable with four goals and six assists.

Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Chris Stilwell, Whitesboro boys golf. Shooting a 37 to nearly match par, Still led Whitesboro to a 204-253 victory over Rome Free Academy on April 27.

Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Mya Stafford, Onondaga softball. Hitting a home run and earning three RBIs, Stafford helped the Tigers get a 10-0 shutout of Tully on April 25.

Revitalize! CNY Rewarding Performance: Lydia De Traglia, Clinton girls track and field. De Traglia swept to wins in the 100, 200 and 400-meter sprints and the 100 hurdles in Clinton’s 93-48 win over Canastota on April 26.

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Student-Athlete: Dom Osbeck, Liverpool boys lacrosse. Osbeck helped Liverpool hand Watertown its first defeat of the season 12-5 on April 25 by earning three goals and adding three assists.

University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Ryan Campbell, Westhill baseball, throwing a no-hitter with 14 strikeouts to help his side remain undefeated and topple Cazenovia 8-0 on April 27.

Upstate Urology Upstart: Leah VerSchneider, Baldwinsville softball. VerSchneider’s two-run triple in the fifth inning broke the game open as the Bees would defeat Liverpool 5-2 on April 27.

U.S. Army Athlete of the Week: Cece Powell, Marcellus girls lacrosse. Powell put in seven goals to outscore the opposition as the Mustangs roared past Homer 18-6 on April 27.

Wilkins RV Winning Player: Sarah Burgess, Jamesville-DeWitt girls golf. Shooting a 43 at Highland Golf Course, Burgess was the individual champion by five shots during the first SCAC Empire Division tournament on April 26.

Zero Draft Defensive Standout: Shane Staudt, West Genesee boys lacrosse. With his 10 saves, Staudt helped the Wildcats upend reigning state Class A champion Baldwinsville 9-8 on April 25.
