AFLAC Amazing Athlete: Logan Langel, Hamilton girls basketball. When the Emerald Knights knocked off top seed West Canada in the February 25 Section III Class D semifinals, Langel led the way with 22 points.

Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: Will Lunny, Mount Markham boys basketball. Helped by Lunny’s 30 points and 12 rebounds, the Mustangs turned back Waterville 67-56 in the February 26 Section III Class C semifinals.

Empower Federal Credit Union Rewarding Effort: Chase Nevills, Copenahgen wrestling. Nevills won the state Division II championship at 118 pounds February 25 in Albany when he defeated BGAH’s Joey Florance 9-1 in the championship bout to finish his season 39-1.

Ethan Allen Award of Excellence: Brianna Weaver, Cicero-North Syracuse girls basketball. Weaver’s 21 points, including five 3-pointers, led the Northstars past Auburn 67-61 in overtime in the February 25 Section III Class AA semifinals.

Fitness Forum/Ultimate Goal/Sports 481 Fabulous Effort: Jameson Stockwell, New Hartford boys basketball. Stockwell’s 26 points was a key component as the Spartans beat top seed Bishop Grimes 81-71 in the February 24 Section III Class A semifinals.

Holbrook Heating and Air Conditioning Outstanding Athlete: Andrew Gaglione, Skaneateles ice hockey. With a goal and two assists, Gaglione led the Laker past CBA/Jamesville-DeWitt 4-0 in the February 27 Section III Division II championship game.

Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Andrew Bailey, Chittenango wrestling. Completing a perfect 38-0 season, Bailey beat Wellsville’s Shane Davidson in overtime February 25 for the state Division II championship at 189 pounds.

Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Austin Griner, Sackets Harbor boys basketball. The Patriots held off West Canada 65-60 in the February 25 Section III Class D semifinals as Griner piled up 32 points, nine rebounds and five assists.

Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Santino Campanaro, Rome Free Academy boys volleyball. Earning 17 digs, Campanaro helped the Black Knights knock off Central Valley Academy in three sets February 27 for its first-ever Section III playoff victory.

Revitalize! CNY Rewarding Performance: Sixx Cook, Central Valley Academy wrestling. Cook was the state Division II championship at 152 pounds February 25 and went 50-2 overall this winter with 174 career victories.

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Student-Athlete: Christian Amica, West Genesee boys basketball. Amica’s 23 points and a key late charge helped the Wildcats beat Nottingham 65-56 in the February 25 Section III Class AA semifinal.

University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Logan Cookinham, Poland girls basketball, becoming the program’s all-time leading scorer with her 1,577th point in the Tornadoes’ 66-39 win over Copenhagen in the February 25 Section III Class D semifinal.

Upstate Urology Upstart: Morgan Flask, Weedsport girls basketball. A combination of 11 points and 14 rebounds by Flask led the Warriors past Herkimer 51-44 in the February 26 Section III Class C semifinals.

U.S. Army Athlete of the Week: Sam Sorenson, Homer wrestling. The West Point bound-senior won his second consecutive state Division II championship at 215 pounds February 25 in Albany, going 50-0 this season and a combined 97-0 the last two years.

Wilkins RV Winning Player: Kam Langdon, Westhill boys basketball. Leading his team with 20 points, Langdon propelled the Warriors past defending champion Chittenango 61-55 in the Section III Class B semifinal on February 26.

Zero Draft Defensive Standout: Claire Turner, Cortland girls basketball. Turner’s 10 rebounds, three steals and two blocks led the Purple Tigers past Marcellus 41-35 in the February 26 Section III Class B semifinals.
