Atlas Fence All-Star: Anatenya Burrage, Syracuse Academy of Science girls basketball. The Atmos knocked off Mount Markham in overtime 64-61 in the February 15 opening round of the Section III Class B playoffs as Burrage led her side scoring 26 points.
Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: Milen Williams, Henninger boys basketball. Williams netted 32 points, eight more than his previous season best, playing a key role as the Black Knights beat Henninger 80-67 in the February 22 opening round of the Section III Class AA playoffs.
The Image Press Icon: Brody and Logan Novak, CBA/Jamesville-DeWitt ice hockey. The brother duo each had a goal and two assists to help the Brothers beat Auburn 6-3 in the February 20 Section III Division II quarterfinal at Onondaga Nation Arena.
JKS Roofing High Achiever: Samantha Massey, Mount Markham girls wrestling. Massey earned the Most Outstanding Wrestler award while gaining the 94-pound title in the February 16 Section III championships at SRC Arena.
Little York Plantation Play of the Week: Utica Academy of Science boys basketball outscoring Cortland 20-9 in the fourth quarter to claim a 55-41 win over the Purple Tigers in the February 21 opening round of the Section III Class A playoffs.
M. Lemp Jewelers Rewarding Effort: Myah Rainbow, Oneida girls basketball. Rainbowl led the Express past Oneida 40-32 in the February 22 opening round of the Section III Class A playoffs by netting 20 points while adding 10 rebounds and seven steals.
Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Elijah Pomales, Rome Free Academy boys volleyball. The Black Knights swept Canastota in three sets on February 21 led by Pomales earning 27 assists and adding nine digs on the back line.
North Syracuse Lawn and Snow Notable Effort: Mason Hurst, Watertown boys basketball. Hurst had a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds, plus four assists and three blocks, as the Cyclones handled PSLA Fowler 63-44 in the February 22 opening round of the Section III Class AA playoffs.
Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Anna Congelli, Tully girls basketball. When the Black Knights beat rival LaFayette 57-39 in the February 22 opening round of the Section III Class A playoffs Congelli not only gained 15 points but tacked on 12 rebounds and a pair of blocks
O’Hara Electric Electrifying Play: Nadia Rose, Fulton girls wrestling, pinning Homer’s Gracie Newman in 91 seconds to earn the 138-pound title and help the Red Dragons take team honors during the February 16 Section III championships at SRC Arena.
110 Grill Award of Excellence: Layla Smart, Skaneateles girls ice hockey. Smart’s pair of early goals made the difference as the Lakers beat Frontier/Lakeshore/Orchard Park 3-1 in the February 21 state regional semifinal at Utica’s Nexus Center.
Onondaga Flooring Outstanding Achievement: Sonia Munetz, Phoenix girls wrestling. Improving to 31-1 on the season during the February 16 Section III championships at SRC Arena, Munetz took the 114-pound title beating Baldwinsville’s Arianna Leo in the finals.
Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Rocco Mastrovito-Smith, New Hartford ice hockey. Though the Spartans lost 6-0 to Skaneateles in the February 19 Section III Division II quarterfinal Mastrovito-Smith dazzled in goal by recording 65 saves, more than one save per minute.
Senke CNY Garage Door Sensational Star: Howard Wright, Onondaga boys basketball. When Wright scored 23 points (plus eight assists and five steals) in the Tigers’ 68-43 win over Dolgeville February 21 in the Section III Class C playoffs he surpassed the 1,000-career point mark.
Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Student-Athlete: Ava Grcic, Little Falls girls basketball. Grcic notched 15 rebounds, three blocks and three steals to go with nine points as the Mounties defeated Lowville 56-42 in the February 22 opening round of the Section III Class B playoffs.
University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Henry Dougherty, Fayetteville-Manlius ice hockey, scoring in double overtime to help the Hornets edge Cazenovia 3-2 in the February 19 Section III Division I quarterfinal at Cicero Twin Rinks.
Wilkins RV Winning Player: Drew Telesky, Sherburne-Earlville wrestling. Telesky’s 2-1 win over Mount Markham’s Ben Dziuban gave Telesky the 101-pound title and helped the Timberwolves take team honors in the February 15 Section III Division II state qualifier at SRC Arena.
