APEX Ace Award: Abigail Foster, Holland Patent girls volleyball. With her seven aces and 13 assists, Foster helped the Golden Knights knock off top seed Canastota and win its fist-ever Section III championship in the Class B final February 15 at Central Valley Academy.
Atlas Fence All-Star: Cam Atkinson, Oswego boys basketball. The Buccaneers continued its strong season knocking off Fulton 89-81 on February 13 as Atkinson led five different players scoring in double figures by earning 25 points.
Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: Taylor Adams, Central Square girls basketball. Doing a bit of everything, Adams had 12 rebounds, six assists and five steals to go with seven points as the Redhawks edged East Syracuse Minoa 51-49 on February 11.
The Image Press Icon: Maxx Fesinger, West Genesee boys wrestling. Fesinger’s 170-pound title helped the Wildcats edge Cicero-North Syracuse by 1.5 points for the team championship in the February 15 Section III state qualifier at SRC Arena.
JKS Roofing High Achiever: Kali Fountain, Rome Free Academy girls volleyball. The Black Knights edged New Hartford February 15 for the Section III Class A winter championship led by Fountain on the front line as she recorded 15 kills and added 14 digs and three blocks.
Little York Plantation Play of the Week: Nora Fitzgerald, Westhill girls basketball, hitting a basket in the final seconds of regulation to force overtime and help her team defeat Cortland 40-38 on February 14.
M. Lemp Jewelers Rewarding Effort: Troy Luley, New Hartford boys swimming. Winning the 100 breaststroke, second in the 500 freestyle and swimming a leg in the victorious 400 freestyle relay, Luley led the Spartans to the George Falwell Cup in the February 14 Section III state qualifying meet.
Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Mason Farrell, Sauquoit Valley boys volleyball. With his 12 kills, Farrell paced Sauquoit as it turned back Westmoreland in three sets on February 12 and moved its overall record to 11-2.
North Syracuse Lawn and Snow Notable Effort: Nicholas Hays, Oriskany boys basketball. Oriskany battled its way past Poland 68-59 on February 12 with a big push from Hays, who earned a team-high 28 points.
Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Kaelyn Boliver, Beaver River girls volleyball. The Beavers edged Mount Markham in five sets February 15 to complete an undefeated run to the Section III Class C winter championship, Boliver achieving a triple-double of 26 assists, 13 kills and 26 digs plus six aces.
O’Hara Electric Electrifying Play: Alessio McGrane and Rylan MacCollum, Baldwinsville ice hockey, scoring six seconds apart to help the Bees get past Ontario Bay 3-2 in the February 13 opening round of the Section III Division I playoffs.
110 Grill Award of Excellence: Ella Polak, Tully girls basketball. When the Black Knights turned back Onondaga 68-49 on February 11 Polak threatened a triple-double and finished with 19 points, eight rebounds and eight assists while adding six steals.
Onondaga Flooring Outstanding Achievement: Kasey Kalfass, Cicero-North Syracuse boys wrestling. Kalfass knocked off the top three seeds on the way to earning the 124-pound championship in the Section III Division II state qualifier February 15 at SRC Arena.
Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Ryan Hayden, CBA/Jamesville-DeWitt ice hockey. Hayden’s pair of third-period goals helped the Brothers pull out a 3-1 victory over Clinton February 13 at Clinton Arena.
Senke CNY Garage Door Sensational Star: Neil Adamski, Fayetteville-Manlius boys swimming. Adamski’s victory in the 100 breaststroke in 59.99 seconds helped push the Hornets to the Section III Class A championship on February 12 at Nottingham High School.
Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Student-Athlete: Allyson St. Germain, Cincinnatus girls volleyball. Earning 16 kills, six aces and 18 digs St. Germain pushed the Lions past Sandy Creek in five sets on February 15 to complete an undefeated run to the Section III Class D championship.
University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Nottingham girls basketball going on a 25-2 run in the third quarter of its February 15 game against Jamesville-DeWitt, leading to a 52-39 victory which moved the Bulldogs’ win streak to six in a row.
Wilkins RV Winning Player: Mason Tanner, Jordan-Elbridge wrestling. Tanner, from Port Byron, was named Most Outstanding Wrestler in the Section III Division II state qualifier February 15 at SRC Arena beating Holland Patent’s Andrew Juliano 8-0 for the 108-pound championship.
