Awards for 12/27/2025

APEX Amazing Athlete: Blake Swick, CNY Fusion ice hockey. Swick broke out with four goals and two assists to help Fusion roar to a 7-4 victory over Thousand Islands on December 26 at Alexandria Bay Arena.

Atlas Fence All-Star: Michael Hill, Whitesboro boys basketball. When Whitesboro defeated Fayetteville-Manlius 51-45 on December 27 at the Nexus Center in Utica Hill worked his way to 19 points including eight successful free throws.

B&B Lumber Big Mover: Katie Raffle, Central Valley Academy girls basketball. Raffle accumulated 34 points and seven rebounds outscoring the opposition by herself and helping the Thunder roll past Utica Proctor 64-28 on December 22.

Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: Alana Tuberville, East Syracuse Minoa girls bowling. The Spartans shut out Central Square 7-0 on December 22 at Strike-N-Spare Lanes led by Tuberville’s 582 series and high game of 220.

Clifton Recycling Rewarding Effort: Kaylyn Dreidel, Sauquoit Valley girls volleyball. With 18 assists and eight digs Dreidel kept the Hawks undefeated on December 20 with a three-set sweep over Herkimer.

CNY Softwash & Pressure Washing Superstar: Brody Faffley, Westmoreland boys volleyball. The Bulldogs defeated Rome Free Academy in five sets on December 23 with Faffley gaining 22 digs on defense to go with 10 kills and three aces.

Fire Brothers Red-Hot Performance: Liam Harty, CBA/Jamesville-DeWitt ice hockey. Harty’s three-goal hat trick plus an assist helped the Brothers roll past Broome County 10-1 on December 27 in the opening round of the Cicero-North Syracuse Optimist Tournament.

F.W. Webb Winning Effort: Katelyn Schick, Altmar-Parish-Williamstown girls basketball. The Rebels defeated Solvay 54-34 on December 22 with Schick matching the Bearcats thanks to her 34 points plus seven rebounds and six assists.

The Image Press Icon: Finn Criss, Marcellus boys basketball. Setting a new career high with 26 points including seven 3-pointers, Criss helped the Mustangs earn a 64-55 victory over Potsdam on December 27 at Utica’s Nexus Center.

Little York Plantation Play of the Week: Joshua Knapp, New Hartford boys indoor track and field, clearing 13 feet on his third and final attempt to win the pole vault in the first session of the December 27 CNY Holiday Classic at Utica University.

Mabey’s Moving and Storage Major Mover: Sufaria Norries, Rome Free Academy boys basketball. With his 29 points Norries set a torrid pace for the Black Knights when it defeated Baldwinsville 75-62 in the RFA Invitational on December 21.

Mirbeau Inn and Spa Megastar:  Payton Boris, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill girls basketball. With her 19 points and 15 rebounds Boris was crucial for the Red Devils when it defeated Indian River 59-47 on December 23.

M. Lemp Jewelers Rewarding Effort: Serenity Williams, Solvay girls indoor track and field. At the second session of the December 27 CNY Holiday Classic at Utica University Williams won the high jump to go with a third in the long jump and fourth in the 55-meter hurdles.

Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Audrey Kaulback, Canastota girls volleyball. Canastota topped Oneida in five sets on December 22 as Kaulback finished with 13 kills, nine digs, three blocks and two aces.

Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Cole Mead, Cortland-Homer ice hockey. The Golden Eagles defeated Oswego 3-1 on December 22 at Crisafulli Rink largely because Mead stopped 37 of the Buccaneers’ 38 shots he faced.

O’Hara Electric Electrifying Play: Andrew Spaulding, Cooperstown wrestling, pinning Maine-Endwell’s Jerry Harman in 53 seconds to win the 150-pound title in the Hawkeyes’ own invitational meet on December 27.

Onondaga Flooring Outstanding Achievement: Keygan Newman, Utica Proctor boys indoor track and field. Newman needed 36.25 seconds to prevail in the 300-meter dash in the second session of the December 27 CNY Holiday Classic at Utica University.

Potter and Perone Special Performance: Braylie Higgins, Carthage girls volleyball. Higgins picked up eight kills, 12 assists, five aces and seven digs to help the Comets defeat East Syracuse Minoa in five sets on December 22.

Premier Hardwood Premier Player: Perry Planck, Cato-Meridian boys basketball. Planck picked up 26 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks which helped push the Blue Devils past Syracuse OnTECH 76-37 on December 23.

Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Braedan Taggart, Skaneateles boys ice hockey. When the Lakers took apart the Clinton Comets 11-1 on December 23 Taggart was in the center of most of the activity thanks to his four goals and three assists.

Rockbridge Investment Management Risk Taker: Lydia Land-Steves, Fayetteville-Manlius girls basketball. Carrying the Hornets to a 47-40 victory over Carthage on December 23 Land-Steves set a new career mark earning 31 points.

Senke CNY Garage Door Sensational Star: Max Hanselman, Lowville wrestling. Hanselman’s technical fall over Cameron Carpenter moved him to 8-0 on the season and clinched Lowville’s 40-36 victory over South Lewis on December 23.

Sierson Crane and Welding Superstar: Dean Koenig, Oriskany boys basketball. The Skyhawks moved to 6-1 on the season defeating Town of Webb 77-50 on December 22 led by Koenig getting 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Top Notch Roofing Top Star: Kenyon Storandt, Thousand Islands girls basketball. Storandt had 18 points and eight rebounds as the Vikings beat Pulaski 64-19 on December 27 in the opening round of the Jefferson CC Tournament.

University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Sonia Munetz, Phoenix girls wrestling, defeating Niagara-Wheatfield’s Gabriella Barone 10-0 to stay undefeated this season and win at 114 pounds in the December 27 Frosty Freestyle Festival at Midlakes.

U.S. Army Athlete of the Week: Alex Dickson, Tully girls indoor track and field. With a time of two minutes 28.38 seconds Dickson was victorious in the 800-meter run during the first session of the December 27 CNY Holiday Classic at Utica University.

Wilkins RV Winning Player: Sean Putnam, West Genesee boys swimming. Putnam won both the 100 and 200-yard freestyle to help the Wildcats earn a 98-67 victory over Pulaski on December 22.

Wonder Windows Winning Performance: Nathan Best, Tully boys basketball. Best accomplished a triple-double of 18 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds which helped the Black Knights win at Cazenovia 59-39 on December 22.
