APEX Amazing Athlete: Leah Benedict, Cicero-North Syracuse girls basketball. With her 34 points Benedict outscored the entire opposition during the Northstars’ 53-30 victory over Liverpool on December 10.

Atlas Fence All-Star: Trevor Haynes, Mexico boys wrestling. Haynes won all five of his bouts at 118 pounds to help the Tigers to a perfect 5-0 record in the December 6 Rebel-Devil-Comet Duals.

B&B Lumber Big Mover: Mason Hurst, Watertown boys basketball. The Cyclones claimed a 77-69 decision over Carthage on December 12 with Hurst unstoppable as he picked up 24 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists.

Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: Hailey Babcock, South Lewis girls indoor track and field. Babcock swept to victories in both the shot put and weight throw during the second Mohawk Valley ITA meet of the season December 12 at Utica University.

Clifton Recycling Rewarding Effort: Alayna Richards, General Brown girls volleyball. Richards picked up 10 kills and 16 digs needing all of them to help the Lions rally from two sets down to beat Watertown in five sets on December 12.

CNY Softwash & Pressure Washing Superstar: Carmen Youngs, West Canada Valley girls bowling. Shooting a 607 series with a high game of 227, Youngs helped the Nighthawks defeat Herkimer 5-0 on December 9.

Fire Brothers Red-Hot Performance: Ben Lamson, Jordan-Elbridge wrestling. Improving to 9-0 on the season, Lamson earned the 144-pound title for the Eagles during the December 13 Penfield-Hunter Holiday Tournament.

F.W. Webb Winning Effort: Liam Kelly, West Genesee boys basketball. The Wildcats worked its way past Syracuse Academy of Science 60-53 on December 9 with Kelly’s 21 points setting the pace.

The Image Press Icon: Alyssa Millard, Lowville girls basketball. Piling up 29 points, 15 rebounds, five assists and three steals Millard carried the Red Raiders to a 72-62 victory over Indian River on December 11.

Little York Plantation Play of the Week: Jack Heenan, New Hartford ice hockey, assisting on the game-winning goal in overtime having had a part in all three goals for the Spartans in its 3-2 victory over Cortland-Homer on December 12.

Mabey’s Moving and Storage Major Mover: Keygan Newman, Utica Proctor boys indoor track and field. Newman swept both the 55 and 300-meter sprint events for the Raiders in the second Mohawk Valley ITA meet of the season on December 12.

Mirbeau Inn and Spa Megastar: Hailey Haver, Poland girls basketball. Doing it all in the Tornadoes’ 44-36 victory over Canastota on December 12 Haver had 11 points, seven steals, four rebounds, three blocks and two assists.

M. Lemp Jewelers Rewarding Effort: Savannah Wilcox, Mount Markham girls volleyball. The undefeated Mustangs swept Cooperstown in three sets on December 8 with Wilcox earning 24 assists and serving up five aces.

Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Jernessa Donaldson, Solvay girls indoor track and field. Donaldson won both the shot put and weight throw to sweep throwing events in the December 13 session of the Jack Morse Kickoff Meet at SRC Arena.

Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Hudson Hunt, Sandy Creek boys basketball. Producing 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists Hunt helped the Comets battle past Copenhagen 59-57 on December 12.

O’Hara Electric Electrifying Play: Graciela Vasquez, Fulton girls wrestling, pinning teammate Hayleigh Lenz to win the 185-pound title and help the Red Dragons to the team title in the December 12 Phoenix Girls Scramble.

Onondaga Flooring Outstanding Achievement: Olive Somers, Hannibal girls basketball. Somers finished with 20 points, nine rebounds and three steals helping Hannibal defeat Pulaski 64-43 on December 9.

Potter and Perone Special Performance: Ray Rucker, Liverpool boys bowling. Shooting a 731 series with opening games of 260 and 276 at Flamingo Bowl, Rucker helped the Legends roll to a 7-0 victory over Auburn on December 9.

Premier Hardwood Premier Player: Mason Allen, McGraw boys basketball. Allen earned 20 points and 15 rebounds to help the Eagles get its first win of the season on December 8 edging Stockbridge Valley 55-53.

Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Zach Bice, Baldwinsville ice hockey. All that Bice did in the Bees’ 2-1 victory over West Genesee on December 10 at Shove Park was stop each of the 35 shots the Wildcats took.

Rockbridge Investment Management Risk Taker: Max Hann, Christian Brothers Academy boys basketball. The Brothers topped Jamesville-DeWitt 49-41 on December 6 led by Hann setting a career mark as he picked up 17 points.

Senke CNY Garage Door Sensational Star: Mallory Brown, Weedsport girls basketball. As the Wolverines rolled past Cato-Meridian 59-34 on December 9 Brown continued to dazzle as she got 20 points and 13 rebounds.

Sierson Crane and Welding Superstar: Molly Sorenson, Homer girls wrestling. Earning the 152-pound championship during the December 6 Bea Stephens Scramble at Horseheads, Sorenson improved her early-season record to 5-0.

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Stellar Athlete: Olivia Vitale, Faith Heritage girls volleyball. Helped by 11 kills and 14 digs from Vitale, the Saints got its first win of the season on December 8 defeating Port Byron in four sets.

Top Notch Roofing Top Star: Phil Moore, East Syracuse Minoa boys indoor track and field. Moore had dominant victories in both the long jump and 55-meter hurdles during the December 12 session of the Jack Morse Kickoff Meet at SRC Arena.

University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Nathan Freebern, Oswego wrestling, pinning Phoenix’s Quentin Thomas in the second period to earn the 157-pound title in the December 13 Phoenix Round Robin.

U.S. Army Athlete of the Week: Jacob Bruno, Rome Free Academy ice hockey. The Black Knights stayed unbeaten routing Cicero-North Syracuse 8-1 on December 9 at Kennedy Arena as Bruno picked up two goals and three assists.

Wilkins RV Winning Player: Riley Hodkinson, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill girls basketball. Hodkinson picked up 23 points, mostly from 14 free throws, and 12 rebounds in the Red Devils’ 43-33 victory over Homer on December 13.

Wonder Windows Winning Performance: Caleb Neuenschwander, Hamilton boys basketball. Neuenschwander had 16 points, six assists, six steals, five rebounds and two blocks when the Emerald Knights beat Stockbridge Valley 71-46 on December 13.
