Here are the award-winners for the October 27 edition of the Inside High School Sports show:

AFLAC Amazing Athlete: Joe Spires, Cazenovia boys soccer. When the Lakers defeated Camden 3-1 in the Section III Class B semifinals on October 24, Spires scored twice and added an assist, all in the second half.

Crouse Hospital Clutch Performance: James Grimes, Auburn football, intercepting a pass on the final play to preserve the Maroons’ 28-23 win over Central Square in the October 19 Section III Class A playoff game.

Mirbeau Inn and Spa Megastar: Hans Matzal, Faith Heritage boys cross country. Matzal took the victory in a time of 17:42.2 to claim the OHSL Patriot division championship race October 23 at Tully.

NAPA Prime Performer: Allie Posnick, Solvay girls volleyball. The Bearcats beat Fulton in five sets on October 24 (including a 33-31 fifth set) as Posnick finished with 33 assists, 14 digs, four kills and three aces.

Sam’s Auto Body Sensational Star: Eva Borton, Clinton girls cross country. Borton dominated the Center State Conference championship race October 20, her time of 19:01.9 beating the field by more than a minute.

Sport Center 481 Driving Force: Gabby Sylstra, Little Falls girls soccer. Sylstra’s three-goal hat trick helped the Mounties handle Dolgeville 5-1 in the Section III Class C semifinal on October 23.

Summitcars.com Coach of the Week: C.J. Hannon, Cato-Meridian football. Hannon’s Blue Devils achieved an upset in the first round of the Section III Class D playoffs, knocking off top-seeded Frankfort-Schuyler 22-14.

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Student-Athlete: Miranda Smith, New Hartford gymnastics. With a score of 38.275, Smithw was the all-around champion during the October 19 Section III championship meet.

Syracuse Pool and Patio Pivotal Play of the Week: Madison Ascioti, Baldwinsville field hockey, scoring in overtime to push the Bees past Fayetteville-Manlius 2-1 in the Section III Class A semifinal on October 23.

Upstate Medical University Magic Moment: Jack Lambert, Cooperstown boys soccer, scoring in overtime to help the Hawkeyes beat Beaver River 1-0 in the October 23 Section III Class C semifinals.

U.S. Army Male Athlete: Caleb Bender, Skaneateles boys cross country. Bender’s second-place finish helped the Lakers edge Hannibal and Westhill for the OHSL Liberty division championship October 24.

U.S. Army Female Athlete: Kate O’Neil, Watertown IHC girls soccer. The Cavaliers beat Sauquoit Valley 1-0 in the Section III Class C semifinal on October 24, O’Neil scoring the only goal midway through the second half.

Wegmans Winning Player: Chris Blum, Fayetteville-Manlius boys volleyball. Blum had 43 assists as the Hornets closed the regular season October 24 with a five-set victory over Oswego.
