AFLAC Amazing Athlete: Grayson Jones, Cortland boys soccer. When the Purple Tigers defeated the Auburn Maroons 6-1 on October 9, Jones provided four of the team’s goals, plus an assist.

Crouse Hospital Clutch Performance: Brian Lamaitis, Chittenango football. Lamaitis threw one touchdown pass and scored the game-winner in the fourth quarter as the Bears beat Vernon-Verona-Sherrill 15-14 on October 5.

Mirbeau Inn and Spa Megastar: Allison Bartlett, Cicero-North Syracuse field hockey. With a goal and assist late int he game, Bartlett helped the Northstars rally to defeat Liverpool 2-1 in overtime on October 9.

NAPA Prime Performer: Sara Galante, Westhill girls volleyball. The Warriors stayed undefeated by sweeping Solvay in three sets on October 10 as Galante had a team-high 10 kills to go with three aces and five digs.

Sam’s Auto Body Sensational Star: Brian Felix, West Genesee football. Felix had 13 tackles, plus an interception, leading the Wildcats’ defense as it defeated Fayetteville-Manlius 31-20 on October 5.

Sport Center 481 Driving Force: Emma Galletta, Jamesville-DeWitt girls swimming. Galletta swept the 50 and 100-yard freestyle sprints as the Red Rams defeated the West Genesee Wildcats 97-80 on October 10.

Summitcars.com Coach of the Week: Tom Basel, Poland girls soccer. The Tornadoes not only own a perfect 14-0 record, they have held the top spot in the state Class D rankings for the entire regular season.

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Student-Athlete: Hannah Ielfield, South Lewis girls cross country. Ielfield won the individual race and helped the Falcons to the team title at the October 6 Whitesboro Invitaitonal.

Syracuse Pool and Patio Pivotal Play of the Week: Danielle Cresci, Utica-Notre Dame girls tennis, beating Isabella Kroon in straight sets as the Jugglers won 4-3 over Skaneateles in the October 6 Section III Class C final.

Timber Banks Top Golfer: Tynan Jones, Skaneateles boys. Jones shot 76 at Camillus Hills Golf Club, taking medalist honors and helping the Lakers to the team title at the October 9 Section III Class B/C/D fall tournament.

Upstate Medical University Magic Moment: Logan Haynes, Sandy Creek football, intercepting a potential two-point pass late in the fourth quarter to secure the Comets’ 19-18 win over Waterville on October 5.

U.S. Army Male Athlete: Colton Kempney, Beaver River boys cross country. Kempney won the individula race and the state Class D no. 1-ranked Beavers the team title at its own October 5 invitational meet.

U.S. Army Female Athlete: Arayla Garcia, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill field hockey. The Red Devils defeated Central Valley Academy 4-1 on October 8 as Garcia put up a goal for VVS and assisted on two others.

Wegmans Winning Player: Thomas Higman, Baldwinsville boys volleyball. Higman had 29 assists as the Bees defeated Fayetteville-Manlius in four sets on October 9, avenging an earlier defeat to the Hornets.
