Awards for 4/17/21

AFLAC Amazing Athlete: Emma Byrne, Tully girls volleyball. Capping a week where the Black Knights moved a perfect mark to 11-0, Byrne picked up 11 kills that all were important to help her side edge the LaFayette Lancers in five set on April 13.

Atlas Fence All-Star: McKenzie Way, Watertown girls swimming. The Cyclones’ run through the Frontier League continued with a 101-77 victory over the Carthage Comets on April 16, with Way getting first place in both the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.


Holbrook Heating and Air Conditioning Male Athlete of the Week: Rowan Marsell, Indian River football. The Warriors routed the Watertown Cyclones 56-12 on April 13 as Marsell threw for 67 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing nine times for 146 yards and scoring three more times.


Holbrook Heating and Air Conditioning Female Athlete of the Week: Alayna Harbaugh, Cicero-North Syracuse girls swimming. Harbaugh’s sweep of the 50 and 100-yard freestyle sprints helped propel the Northstars past the New Hartford Spartans 104-81 on April 13.


Mirbeau Inn and Spa Megastar: Nick Brown, East Syracuse Minoa boys volleyball. With Brown powering things thanks to his 10 kills and four blocks, the Spartans continued to run through its inaugural season by defeating Syracuse City in four sets on April 13.


Nagle Turf Winning Moment: Jeffrey Cubino, Whitesboro football, scoring the two-point conversion in overtime that allowed the Warriors to win over the archrival New Hartford Spartans in a 29-28 classic on April 10.


Summitcars.com Coach of the Week: Nick Patterson, Marcellus football. When the Mustangs defeated the Westhill Warriors 31-16 on April 12, it gave Patterson his 50th coaching victory achieved at three different schools, having coached previously at Nottingham and Tully.


Syracuse Fitness Store Standout: Garrett Wood, Otselic Valley boys soccer. It was Wood accounting for all three of his team’s goals – two in the second half, and another in overtime to help rally Otselic from a two-goal deficit to defeat the Madison Blue Devils 3-2 on April 14.


Syracuse Orthopedic Surgeons Student-Athlete: Elizabeth Springer, Skaneateles girls swimming. When the Lakers ended Cicero-North Syracuse’s six-meet win streak on April 15, Springer had a key role with her victories in the 200 and 100-yard freestyle.


Syracuse Sauna King Superstar: Hunter Lasinski, Mexico football. Lasinski’s three first-half touchdowns on an interception return and a pair of receptions helped the Tigers stay undefeated at 4-0 when it knocked off the PSLA-Fowler Falcons 53-28 on April 15.


U.S. Army Male Athlete: Quinn Moore, Liverpool boys volleyball. With Moore picking up 19 assists and four kills, the Warriors improved to 10-2 on the season with a three-set sweep of the Living Word Academy Lions when those two sides met on April 15.


U.S. Army Female Athlete: Katharina Probst, Watertown IHC girls soccer. Probst was sensational in the Cavaliers’ 7-0 shutout of the Carthage Comets on April 13, not only pouring in four goals, but adding an assist to pace the IHC attack.
