Atlas Fence All-Star: Abby Bombard, Watertown IHC girls basketball. Bombard pulled off the extremely rare quadruple-double of 19 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 13 steals in the Cavaliers’ 57-34 win over Stockbridge Valley in the February 26 Section III Class D quarterfinal.
Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: Dylan McGetrick, Cato-Meridian boys basketball. The Blue Devils knocked off no. 2 seed Tully 53-48 in the February 27 Section III Class C quarterfinals led by McGetrick, who was the offensive catalyst getting eight assists to go with his 18 points.
The Image Press Icon: Kole Otts, Canastota boys indoor track and field. Otts was victorious in the long jump during the February 25 Section III state qualifying meet at SRC Arena picking up a top leap of 22 feet 11 1/2 inches.
JKS Roofing High Achiever: Zach Kassel, East Syracuse Minoa boys bowling. Kassel had a 12-game total of 2,728 to lead all individuals in the Section III Shootout held February 26 and 28 at Strike-N-Spare Lanes.
Little York Plantation Play of the Week: Kamdyn Dorchester, Carthage wrestling, earning the escape against New Hartford’s Chris BelMonte which made the difference in a 1-0 victory that gave Dorchester the state Division I championship March 1 in Albany.
M. Lemp Jewelers Rewarding Effort: Justin Buffum, CBA/Jamesville-DeWitt ice hockey. Buffum stopped 38 of the 40 shots he faced as the Brothers pushed past Whitesboro 4-2 in the February 27 Section III Division II semifinal at Onondaga Nation Arena.
Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Logan Langel, Hamilton girls basketball. Langel’s 11 points and 11 assists to go with five rebounds and four steals helped the Emerald Knights beat Frankfort-Schuyler 61-41 in the February 27 Section III Class C quarterfinals,
North Syracuse Lawn and Snow Notable Effort: Jackson Ruane, Waterville boys basketball. Ruane’s 23 points, nine assists, seven steals and five rebounds led Waterville past Oriskany 70-57 in the February 27 Section III Class C quarterfinal.
Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Quincy Stayton, Sauquoit Valley boys volleyball. Picking up a team-best 16 kills, Stayton helped the Red Hawks sweep Catskill in three sets to earn the Class C regional championship on March 1.
O’Hara Electric Electrifying Play: Juelz Lewis, Henninger boys basketball, tipping in a rebound basket as time ran out to give the Black Knights a 59-57 road win over Fulton in the February 26 Section III Class AA quarterfinals.
110 Grill Award of Excellence: Lorelai Leskoske, West Genesee bowling. The only girl on the Wildcats team, Leskoske was the top Division I individual during the February 26 and 28 Section III Shootout at Strike-N-Spare Lanes with an aggregate of 2,580 for 12 games.
Onondaga Flooring Outstanding Achievement: Chris Vargason, Weedsport girls basketball. The long-time head coach of the Wolverines picked up his 300th career victory when his team defeated Tully 52-39 in the February 26 Section III Class C quarterfinals.
Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Jacob Penasbene, West Genesee ice hockey. When the Wildcats shut out Fayetteville-Manlius 5-0 in the Section III Division I semifinal February 25 at Shove Park Pensabenes notched two of his team’s goals.
Senke CNY Garage Door Sensational Star: Grayson Gall, New Hartford gymnastics. Gall won her second NYSPHSAA individual championship March 1 at Clarence High School with an all-around score of 38.70 and also won the balance beam and floor exercise while helping Section III to the team title.
Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Student-Athlete: Alan Zanders, Jamesville-DeWitt boys basketball. Erupting for 32 points to get nearly half his team’s output Zanders led the Red Rams past New Hartford 68-58 in the February 26 Section III Class A quarterfinal.
University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Alexis Kress, Little Falls girls basketball, sinking two free throws to help the Mounties get past Oriskany/Westmoreland 57-56 in the Section III Class B quarterfinals on February 27.
Wilkins RV Winning Player: Emma Szarek, Oriskany girls indoor track and field. Beating all of her large-school opposition, Szarek had a top time of one minute 37.85 seconds in the 600-meter run during the February 25 Section III state qualifying meet at SRC Arena.
