Atlas Fence All-Star: Ma’Kari Miles, Henninger boys basketball. The Black Knights upset defending champion West Genesee 50-47 in the February 25 Section III Class AA semifinal as Miles led the visitors scoring 19 points.
B&B Lumber Big Mover: Lily Green, Sackets Harbor girls basketball. With her 11 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals Green led the Patriots past Belleville-Henderson 50-19 in the February 27 Section III Class D quarterfinal.
Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: Drew Telesky, Sherburne-Earlville wrestling. With his 8-7 victory over Avon-Geneseo’s Connor Duyrea Telesky won the 103-pound championship in the February 28 NYSPHSAA Division II final in Albany.
Clifton Recycling Rewarding Effort: Aiden Nofri, Whitesboro ice hockey. Nofri’s two goals and two assists helped Whitesboro pull away and defeat Clinton 7-1 in the February 24 Section III Division II semifinals.
CNY Softwash & Pressure Washing Superstar: Nolan Wood, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill boys volleyball. Earning 44 assists plus 14 digs and three kills, Wood led the Red Devils past Utica Proctor in four sets to win the Section III Class B championship on February 26.
Fire Brothers Red-Hot Performance: Morgan Devine, Jamesville-DeWitt/Fayetteville-Manlius gymnastics. Devine scored 9.70 on the vault to finish second on that apparatus during the February 28 NYSPHSAA championships at Valley Gymnastics in Utica.
F.W. Webb Winning Effort: Azmira Moncoeur, Rome Free Academy girls basketball. Earning five assists to go with her 14 points, Moncoeur helped the Black Knights oust defending champion Liverpool 60-50 in the February 25 Section III Class AAA opening round.
The Image Press Icon: Justin LaMunion, Madison boys basketball. The Blue Devils blasted Town of Webb 83-35 in the February 24 Section III Class D quarterfinal led by LaMunion’s rare 20-20-10 effort consisting of 27 points, 21 rebounds and 10 assists.
Little York Plantation Play of the Week: Deakin Redding, Skaneateles boys ice hockey, netting the winning goal in overtime to help the Lakers fight past New Hartford 4-3 in the February 25 Section III Division II semifinal at Allyn Arena.
Mabey’s Moving and Storage Major Mover: Ryan Brown, Syracuse City boys wrestling. Brown finished second at 190 pounds during the February 27-28 NYSPHSAA championships in Albany just one point short of the state title after 32 consecutive wins this winter.
Mirbeau Inn and Spa Megastar: Dewitt Walker, Nottingham boys basketball. The Bulldogs handled Carthage 88-54 in the February 24 Section III Class AA quarterfinal as Walker picked up 18 points and added six rebounds.
M. Lemp Jewelers Rewarding Effort: Logan Langel, Hamilton girls basketball. With Langel picking up a team-high 17 points, the Emerald Knights worked past Tully 40-30 in the February 26 Section III Class AA quarterfinal.
Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Colton Larsen, Sauquoit Valley boys volleyball. When the Hawks beat Canastota in four sets February 26 for the Section III Class C championship Larsen set the tone serving up seven aces.
Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Dylan McGetrick, Cato-Meridian boys basketball. McGetrick led his side netting 21 points when the Blue Devils took out Utica Notre Dame 62-41 in the February 25 Section III Class C quarterfinal.
O’Hara Electric Electrifying Play: Chris Belmonte, New Hartford boys wrestling, pinning St. Francis’ William Wortkoetter in just 36 seconds to win the NYSPHSAA Division I championship at 285 pounds on February 28 in Albany.
Onondaga Flooring Outstanding Achievement: Mallory Brown, Weedsport girls basketball. No one could contain Brown in the Wolverines’ 56-51 win over Dolgeville in the February 24 Section III Class C semifinal as she set a season mark with 34 points.
Potter and Perone Special Performance: Dan Kosakowski, Oriskany boys basketball. Kosakowski put together 14 points, six assists, five rebounds and three steals for the Skyhawks as it routed Brookfield 94-47 in the February 24 Section III Class D semifinal.
Premier Hardwood Premier Player: Caleb Bouchard, Oneida boys volleyball. The Express topped Westmoreland in straight sets in the February 23 Section III Class B quarterfinal as Bouchard picked up 16 kills and eight digs.
Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Henry Frazee, Cazenovia ice hockey. Netting one goal and assisting on the other, Frazee helped push the Lakers to a 2-1 victory over Rome Free Academy in the February 25 Section III Division I semifinal at Kennedy Arena.
Rockbridge Investment Management Risk Taker: Devens Whalen, DeRuyter boys basketball. Whalen nearly matched Copenhagen all by himself by netting 46 points as the Rockets won 80-50 in the February 25 Section III Class D quarterfinal.
Senke CNY Garage Door Sensational Star: Mollie Babcock, Copenhagen girls basketball. Babcock’s 13 rebounds and four steals to go with nine points led the Gold Knights past Poland 42-31 in the February 26 Section III Class D quarterfinals.
Sierson Crane and Welding Superstar: Kaleal Richardson, Syracuse ITC boys basketball. Richardson got all of his 12 points from four 3-pointers helping the Eagles top Phoenix 57-45 in the February 25 Section III Class A quarterfinal.
Top Notch Roofing Top Star: Ethan Zehr, Lowville boys basketball. Hitting on five 3-pointers and getting 19 points overall, Zehr led Lowville past General Brown 84-55 in the February 25 Section III Class B quarterfinal.
University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Andrew Juliano, Holland Patent boys wrestling, escaping with 21 seconds left for the decisive point to beat Odessa Montour’s Lucas Hoffman 9-8 and win the NYSPHSAA Division II championship February 28 in Albany.
U.S. Army Athlete of the Week: Cara Macaluso, Christian Brothers Academy girls basketball. The Brothers handled Mexico 60-23 in the February 25 Section III Class A quarterfinal as Macaluso outscored the Tigers by herself earning 24 points.
Wilkins RV Winning Player: Ryan Long, West Genesee ice hockey. It was Long’s back-to-back goals in the second period which put the Wildcats ahead to stay in its eventual 6-1 victory over Baldwinsville in the February 24 Section III Division I semifinal at Shove Park.
Wonder Windows Winning Performance: Grayson Gall, New Hartford gymnastics. The Spartans senior repeated as NYSPHSAA champion in the all-around competition Feb. 28 with a score of 38.725 and also prevailed on balance beam with a 9.775.
