Awards for 11/8/2025

APEX Amazing Athlete: Frank Zupancic, Whitesboro football. Zupancic threw touchdown passes of 15, 63 and 54 yards helping Whitesboro pull away from Carthage and win 38-12 in the November 7 Section III Class A semifinal.

Atlas Fence All-Star: Ellie Roberts, South Jefferson girls cross country. Roberts dominated the Section III Class B championship race November 8 at Mount Markham posting a time of 18:15.7 and also leading the Spartans to the team title.

B&B Lumber Big Mover: Isaiah Coleman, Christian Brothers Academy football. Coleman ran for 108 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries in the Brothers’ 55-7 win over West Genesee in the November 7 Section III Class AA semifinals.

Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: Olivia Tom, Fayetteville-Manlius girls volleyball. When the Hornets swept Central Square on November 8 to win the Section III Class AA championship Tom picked up eight kills and added three blocks.

CNY Softwash & Pressure Washing Superstar: Jonathan Zilles, Cicero-North Syracuse boys volleyball. The Northstars defeated Syracuse City in four sets on November 3 as Zilles picked up 21 assists and also earned 15 digs.

Fire Brothers Red-Hot Performance: Thearyn Wales, Jamesville-Dewitt girls swimming. Wales won the 100-yard backstroke and helped in two victorious relays as the Red Rams won the Section III state qualifying meet on November 7 at Nottingham.

F.W. Webb Winning Effort: Phil Moore, East Syracuse Minoa football. Moore led a dominant Spartans defense picking up 13 tackles as it defeated Fayetteville-Manlius 31-6 in the November 7 Section III Class AA semifinals.

The Image Press Icon: Alex Dickson, Tully girls cross country. In 18 minutes 24 seconds Dickson won the individual title and led the Black Knights to the team title in the November 8 Section III Class D championships at Mount Markham.

Little York Plantation Play of the Week: Sloane Raymond, Cicero-North Syracuse girls soccer, scoring in the second half which proved the game-winner for the Northstars as it defeated North Rockland 1-0 in the November 8 Class AAA regional final.

Mabey’s Moving and Storage Major Mover: Sawyer Latella, Hamilton boys soccer. Latella produced a three-goal hat trick when the Emerald Knights rolled past Fabius-Pompey 6-1 on November 1 to win the Section III Class D championship.

Mirbeau Inn and Spa Megastar: Logan Pearson, South Lewis boys cross country. With Pearson leading the way finishing sixth among individuals the Falcons earned the Section III Class C championship on November 8 at Mount Markham.

M. Lemp Jewelers Rewarding Effort: Mason Marland, Morrisville-Eaton football. When the Mavericks beat Waterville 48-6 in the Section III eight-man football semifinal November 7 Marland ran for 380 yards on just 16 carries and five touchdowns one of them a 98-yard dash.

Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Danica Smith, Homer girls volleyball. With her 44 assists, 12 digs and three aces Smith led the Trojans to its first-ever Section III championship beating Jamesville-DeWitt in the November 7 sectional Class A final.

Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Tyquanne Harris, Institute of Technology Central football. Harris threw two touchdown passes and ran for another to help the Eagles hold off Vernon-Verona-Sherrill 28-21 in the Section III Class B semifinal on November 7.

O’Hara Electric Electrifying Play: Aidan Holcomb, Baldwinsville boys soccer, netting the game-winning goal in the second half in both of the Bees’ Class AAA regional games, each of them 2-1 victories over Shenendehowa and Newburgh Free Academy.

Onondaga Flooring Outstanding Achievement: Joe Gardner, East Syracuse Minoa boys volleyball. With his 11 kills and seven digs, Gardner helped the Spartans earn a three-set sweep over Baldwinsville on November 6.

Potter and Perone Special Performance: Emily Kane, Cooperstown girls swimming. Kane was victorious in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke during the Section III Class C championships November 5 at Nottingham High School.

Premier Hardwood Premier Player: Carter Robert, Mexico football. Robert’s kickoff return for a touchdown early in the Section III Class B/C/D-1 championship game put the Tigers ahead for good as it went on to a 35-28 victory over Jamesville-DeWitt on November 6.

Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Brooke Benson, Rome Free Academy field hockey. Benson stopped all 16 shots he faced to help the Black Knights battle past Bethlehem 1-0 in the Class A regional playoffs on November 6.

Rockbridge Management Investment Risk Taker: Emma West, Westhill girls volleyball. When the Wolf Pack swept Skaneateles for its fourth consecutive Section III Class B championship November 8 West had six aces to go with nine kills and 10 digs.

Senke CNY Garage Door Sensational Star: Brenden Lee, General Brown football. Lee had 11 tackles, forced two fumbles and recovered one of them as the Lions shut out Little Falls 63-0 in the Section III Class C semifinal on November 7.

Sierson Crane and Welding Superstar: Lexie Fragnito, Marcellus girls soccer. In three wins including the Section III Class B final and two regional playoff games, Fragnito accumulated 13 goals, six of them when the Mustangs routed Potsdam 10-0.

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Stellar Athlete: Katie Martin, Liverpool girls cross country. Martin’s fifth-place individual finish helped lead the Legends to repeat as Section III Class A champions on November 8 at Mount Markham.

Top Notch Roofing Top Star: Chelsea Foltz, Weedsport girls volleyball. When the Wolverines beat Hamilton in four sets for the Section III Class D championship on November 8 Foltz led the way with 15 kills and 17 digs, plus three assists and two aces.

University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Johnny Vitullo, New Hartford football, throwing a two-yard touchdown pass to Peyton Way with less than 30 seconds left to help the Spartans top Indian River 37-34 in the November 7 Section III Class B semifinal.

U.S. Army Athlete of the Week: Lucy Fleckenstein, Skaneateles girls cross country. With her third-place individual finish Fleckenstein led the Lakers to the team title in the November 8 Section III Class C championship at Mount Markham.

Wilkins RV Winning Player: Riley Butler, West Genesee girls soccer. Butler’s goal in the second overtime period helped the Wildcats edge Niskayuna 1-0 in the opening round of the Class AA regional playoffs on November 5.

Wonder Windows Winning Performance: Nathan Geroux, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill boys cross country. Geroux’s time of 15:54.4 took the individual title and led the Red Devils to the team title in the November 8 Section III Class B championship.
