Atlas Fence All-Star: Jackson Goodness, Westhill boys basketball. Westhill defeated Jamesville-DeWitt 54-51 in the Zebra Classic November 29 at Liverpool as Goodness led a late-game comeback earning 14 points, including eight-for-eight from the free-throw line.
Byrne Dairy Prime Performer: Luke Bobbett, Skaneateles boys ice hockey. Bobbett set a new career mark dishing out five assists as the reigning two-time state Division II champion Lakers rolled past Cortland-Homer 8-0 on November 29.
Energy Savers Defensive Standout: Larah Schepp, Fayetteville-Manlius girls volleyball. Though the Hornets fell a point short of the state Class AA championship against Half Hollow Hills East on November 23 at Glens Falls Schepp led a tremendous defense, ultimately earning 21 digs
Holbrook Heating and Air Conditioning Outstanding Athlete: Austin Ferrin, Auburn boys cross country. Ferrin’s 12th-place finish was the best by any local runner taking part in the November 23 New York State Federation championships at Bowdoin Park.
The Image Press Icon: Erin Trinkaus, Utica Notre Dame girls basketball. Already with a state title secured Trinkaus and the Jugglers began its next chapter defeating Henninger 71-50 as Trinkaus did it all from 21 points to 10 rebounds, seven blocks and five assists.
JKS Roofing High Achiever: Nemeer Dozier, Henninger boys basketball. The Black Knights defeated Syracuse Academy of Science 78-60 in its November 26 season opener led by Dozier, who produced 21 points, 10 of them from successful free throws.
Little York Plantation Play of the Week: Connor McDonald, Whitesboro football going 50 yards for a touchdown late in the first quarter to put his side ahead for good, Whitesboro going on to defeat Brighton 49-21 in the November 29 state Class A semifinal at Vestal.
M. Lemp Jewelers Rewarding Effort: Maria Sweet, Oswego girls basketball. Setting a new career mark with 32 points, Sweet pushed the Buccaneers past Syracuse West 57-45 in the November 30 consolation game of Baldwinsville’s Bill Middleton Tip-Off Tournament.
Mooney Marketing Group/Bristol 7 Enterprises Major Performance: Gavin Baker, Morrisville-Eaton boys basketball. Baker would amass 28 points, nearly half his team’s output, helping M-E gain a 61-51 victor over Richfield Springs/Owen D. Young in the November 29 season opener.
North Syracuse Lawn and Snow Notable Effort: Ava Baty, Westhill girls volleyball. Though Westhill fell again in the state Class B championship match November 25 to Blind Brook, Baty had a sensational performance earning 10 kills and 19 digs while also serving up five aces.
Nye Automotive Mark of Excellence: Justin LaMunion, Madison boys basketball. When the Blue Devils defeated Morrisville-Eaton 80-55 in the November 30 final of the Richfield Springs Tournament LaMunion was unstoppable rendering 30 points while adding 11 rebounds and four blocks.
O’Hara Electric Electrifying Play: Brayden Smith, Christian Brothers Academy football, throwing a one-yard touchdown pass to Steve Grosso with 1:21 left, the winning points in the Brothers’ 21-14 victory over Aquinas in the November 30 state Class AA semifinal.
110 Grill Award of Excellence: Jayden Smith, West Canada Valley boys basketball. Though WCV lost 55-47 to Poland on November 30 it couldn’t be blamed on Smith, who had a sensational outing of 27 points and 17 rebounds.
Onondaga Flooring Outstanding Achievement: Gia Kinsey, Liverpool girls basketball. In Liverpool’s pair of victories over Bethlehem and Phoenix in the November 29-30 Zebra Classic Kinsey was a key contributor, including 18 points against Bethlehem which included a trio of 3-pointers.
Purcell Paints Prime Performer: Aiden Fazikas, Mohawk Valley ice hockey. When the Jugglers won a wild 8-6 decision over Oswego on November 27 at Crisafulli Rink, Fazikas stepped up to deliver a three-goal hat trick to lead his team’s attack.
Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Student-Athlete: Philip Tangora, Frankfort-Schuyler football. While the Maroon Knights’ offense flourished in a 52-26 win over Pembroke in the November 29 eight-man state semifinal, Tangora led his side on defense amassing 15 tackles, including a sack.
University Sports Shop/Manny’s Major Moment: Olivia Davis, Baldwinsville girls basketball, sinking seven 3-pointers to account for most of her 23 points as the Bees put away Bishop Grimes 60-31 in the November 30 final of the Bill Middleton Tip-Off Tournament.
Wilkins RV Winning Player: Garang Garang, Bishop Grimes boys basketball. In the Zebra Classic November 29 at Liverpool the Cobras produced a 60-45 victory over Rochester’s University Prep led by Garang, who paced the attack scoring 20 points.
