Awards for 10/23/2021

AFLAC Amazing Athlete: Jordan Greene, Cato-Meridian boys cross country. It was Greene crossing the finish line first in 18 minutes, 0.7 seconds on his home course as part of the Onondaga High School League Patriot division championships on October 20.

The Amish Group Master Builder: Jordan Koenig, Holland Patent football. With 10 carries for 152 yards and a touchdown, Koenig helped the Golden Knights put away the Canastota Raiders 21-6 on October 22.

Atlas Fence All-Star: Elle Herrera, Westhill girls soccer. When the Mustangs blanked the Westhill Warriors 4-0 in the October 23 Section III Class B quarterfinal, Herrera led that effort, producing a pair of goals.

E.J. Electric Electrifying Performance: Lamond Boyd, PSLA-Fowler football. When the Falcons handled the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Rebels 28-12 on October 23, Boyd scored three touchdowns on the way to 165 yards on 21 carries.

Holbrook Heating and Air Conditioning Male Athlete of the Week: Charlie Colella, Bishop Ludden boys soccer. Netting all three of his team’s goals, Colella carried the Gaelic Knights past Tully 3-2 in the October 20 opening round of the Section III Class C playoffs.

Holbrook Heating and Air Conditioning Female Athlete of the Week: Casey Clausen, Whitesboro field hockey. It was Clausen’s goal in the second overtime period that helped the Warriors knock out the Camden Blue Devils 2-1 in the opening round of the Section III Class B playoffs.

Mirbeau Inn and Spa Megastar: Jacob Franklin, East Syracuse Minoa boys volleyball. The Spartans earned a three-set sweep of the Oswego Buccaneers on October 18 helped by Franklin picking up 30 assists along with three blocks and four digs.

Nagle Turf Winning Moment: Landon Kelly, Marcellus boys soccer, earning the game’s only goal that helped the Mustangs edge the Clinton Warriors 1-0 in the October 20 opening round of the Section III Class B playoffs.

Shute’s Water Systems Star Performance: Alyssa Shepherd, Sauquoit Valley girls soccer. Netting two goals and two assists, Shepherd helped the Indians routed Frankfort-Schuyler 6-0 in the October 23 Section III Class C quarterfinal.

Syracuse Fitness Store Standout: Carlye Bryant, Fayetteville-Manlius field hockey. With two of her team’s three goals, Bryant helped the Hornets oust Auburn 3-0 in the October 21 opening round of the Section III Class A playoffs.

Syracuse Orthopedic Surgeons Student-Athlete: Brayla Bagozzi, Solvay girls volleyball. When the Bearcats defeated the Jordan-Elbridge Eagles on October 19, Bagozzi not only picked up nine assists, she served up seven aces.

Syracuse Sauna King Superstar: Madeline Denison, Oriskany girls soccer. When Oriskany defeated the Sackets Harbor Patriots 4-3 in the opening round of the Section III Class D playoffs on October 19, Denison led the way with two goals and one assist.

U.S. Army Male Athlete: Talonn Leonard, Corcoran football. Leonard’s 36-yard fumble return produced the lone touchdown of the night as the Cougars knocked off the Liverpool Warriors 8-0 on October 22.

U.S. Army Female Athlete: Alexandria French, New Hartford girls cross country. French, an eighth-grader, finished sixth overall and led the Spartans to the team title at the October 23 Tri-Valley League Championships at Osceola Ski Resort in Camden.
