Awards for 10/16/2021

AFLAC Amazing Athlete: Tre’Jeur Sledge, Syracuse ITC football. The Eagles shut out the Marcellus Mustangs 24-0 on October 15 as Sledge ran for 264 yards on 14 carries, highlighted by a 97-yard touchdown sprint.


The Amish Group Master Builder: Alice Bucenec, Little Falls field hockey. The Mounties pulled away the Herkimer Magicians 6-0 on October 12 with a balanced attack led by Bucinec, who finished with a goal and two assists.


Atlas Fence All-Star: Aiden Spencer, Cooperstown boys soccer. Netting a three-goal hat trick, Spencer maintained the Hawkeyes’ undefeated regular season as it shut out the Mount Markham Mustangs 8-0 on October 14.


E.J. Electric Electrifying Performance: James Dapson, Morrisville-Eaton football. In the Warriors’ eight-man 62-8 victory over the Bishop Grimes Cobras on October 16, Dapson ran 12 times for 143 yards and scored three touchdowns.


Holbrook Heating and Air Conditioning Male Athlete of the Week: Joe Seliger, Cicero-North Syracuse boys volleyball. Seliger picked up 10 kills and five digs as the Northstars swept the Fayetteville-Manlius Hornets in three sets on October 15.


Holbrook Heating and Air Conditioning Female Athlete of the Week: Rhys Flansburg, Corcoran girls volleyball. When the Cougars beat the Nottingham Bulldogs in five sets on October 12, Flansburg put away 15 kills to pace Corcoran’s front line.


Mirbeau Inn and Spa Megastar: Kate Murphy, Bishop Grimes girls soccer. It was Murphy’s pair of assists that helped the Cobras shock the previously undefeated Bishop Ludden Gaelic Knights 2-1 on October 14.


Nagle Turf Winning Moment: Luke Tighe, Pulaski boys cross country, finishing in 19 minutes, 15.9 seconds to take the individual title at the John Bernard Adirondack Invitational on October 16.


Shute’s Water Systems Star Performance: Haley Miller, Rome Free Academy gymnastics. Though the Black Knights lost to Jamesville-DeWitt/Fayetteville-Manlius on October 13, Miller led the all-around standings with a score of 35.25 including 9.4 on balance beam.


Syracuse Fitness Store Standout: Kyleen Brady, Auburn girls cross country. When the Weedsport Invitational was held on October 16, Brady went to the front in the girls division, her time of 19 minutes, 51.2 seconds the only one under 20 minutes.


Syracuse Orthopedic Surgeons Student-Athlete: Elsa Hardt, Jamesville-DeWitt girls volleyball. Hardt not only picked up 15 kills, she served up seven aces and had four digs in the Red Rams’ four-set victory over Central Square on October 14.


Syracuse Sauna King Superstar: Joscelyn Kosinski, Oswego girls swimming. Kosinski won the 200 individual medley and helped in two relay victories to help the Buccaneers top the combined Syracuse City team 101-67 on October 12.


U.S. Army Male Athlete: Brett Sanford, Adirondack football. Sanford ran for a trio of first-half touchdowns to set the tone for the Wildcats as it claimed a showdown of undefeated teams with the Cato-Meridian Blue Devils on October 16, prevailing 39-14.


U.S. Army Female Athlete: Grace Muller, Liverpool girls soccer. Netting the lone goal of the game in the first half, Muller helped propel the Warriors to a 1-0 victory over the Baldwinsville Bees on October 13.
