AFLAC Amazing Athlete: Jake Brown, Weedsport boys basketball. The
Warriors beat Cooperstown 61-52 for the Section III Class C
championship March 7 at SRC Arena as Brown led the charge with 21
points and four rebounds.

Mirbeau Inn and Spa Megastar: Peyton Geehrer, Fayetteville-Manlius
boys indoor track and field. Geeher made it to second place in the
3,200-meter run during the March 7 state championship meet at Staten
Island’s Ocean Breeze complex.

Sam’s Auto Body Sensational Athlete: T.J. Clayton, Fulton boys
swimming. Clayton was victorious in the 200 individual medley and 100
butterfly during the Section III Class B championships February 13 at
Nottingham High School.

Sport Center 481 Driving Force: Ryan Durand, Syracuse ice hockey.
Durand’s goal and two assists helped power the Cougars to a 4-0
shutout of West Genesee in the Section III Division I championship
game March 2 at the War Memorial.

Summitcars.com Coach of the Week: John Niland, Christian Brothers
Academy girls basketball. It was the Brothers that defeated
Jamesville-DeWitt on March 7 and ended the Red Rams’ eight-year run as
Section III Class A champions.

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Student-Athlete: Sadie Falcone, Rome
Free Academy girls bowling. Falcone’s six-game total of 1,168 led the
Black Knights to the Section III Division I championship February 2 at
Flamingo Bowl.

Upstate Medical University Magic Moment: Section III’s distance medley
relay team of Kate Putman, Angie Mesa, Camryn Stone and Lexi Bernard
winning the state championship March 7 at Staten Island in a time of
10 minutes, 17.68 seconds.

U.S. Army Male Athlete: Maddox Armani, Cooperstown boys swimming.
Armani was victorious in the 200-yard individual medley and the
500-yard freestyle during the February 13 Section iII Class C
championships at Nottingham High School.

U.S. Army Female Athlete: Charli Carroll, Copenhagen girls basketball.
The Gold Knights hammered Hamilton 67-32 in the March 1 Section III
Class C semifinal as Carroll led a well-balanced attack, finishing the
game with 16 points.

Wegmans Winning Player:Gavin Richardson, DeRuyter boys basketball.
WIth Richardson’s 15 points and 12 rebounds, the undefeated Rockets
held off Lyme 63-54 on March 7 at SRC Arena to win the Section III
Class D championship.
