Here are our award-winners for the February 29 edition of the Inside High School Sports Show

AFLAC Amazing Athlete: Jimmy Connell, Old Forge boys basketball. The Blue Devils topped Faith Heritage 67-64 in overtime in the Section III Class D quarterfinal on February 25, with Connell netting 26 points to pass 1,000 for his career.

Mirbeau Inn and Spa Megastar: Kyleigh Pearson, Hamilton girls basketball. With 18 points and 12 rebounds, Pearson led the Emerald Knights past Watertown IHC 59-35 in the Section III Class D quarterfinals on February 25.

Sam’s Auto Body Sensational Athlete: Troy Chamberlain, Whitesboro ice hockey. The Warriors handled Clinton 3-1 in the February 25 Section III Division II semifinal, with Chamberlain scoring two of his team’s three goals in a decisive second period.

Sport Center 481 Driving Force: Logan Nordman, Onondaga boys basketball. Nordman put together 24 points and 16 rebounds as the Tigers turned back Frankfort-Schuyler 61-55 in the Section III Class C quarterfinals on February 25.

Summitcars.com Coach of the Week: John Cifonelli, Bishop Grimes girls basketball. From a no. 13 seed, Cifonelli’s Cobras has managed to win three games, two of them on the road, to make it all the way to the Section III Class B semifinals.

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Student-Athlete: Brandon Turner, Chittenango girls volleyball. The Bears defeated Oneida in four sets in the Section III Class B semifinal on February 25 as Turner amassed 17 assists and 16 digs to go with nine kills.

Upstate Medical University Magic Moment: Grant Baker, Bishop Ludden boys basketball, hitting a 3-pointer in the final minute to get the Gaelic Knights past Nottingham 60-58 in the Section III Class AA quarterfinals on February 25.

U.S. Army Male Athlete: Jeremy Keyes, West Genesee ice hockey. The Wildcats beat Fayetteville-Manlius 4-1 in the Section III Division I semifinals on February 26 at Shove Park as Keyes earned a three-goal hat trick.

U.S. Army Female Athlete: Piper Seamon, Cooperstown girls basketball. The Hawkeyes edged Little Falls 55-52 in the Section III Class C quarterfinals on February 26, Seamon earning 15 points to go with seven assists and six rebounds.

Wegmans Winning Player: Anthony Recco, Rome Free Academy boys basketball. Recco earned 11 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter to help the Black Knights shock top seed West Genesee 70-56 in the February 25 Section III Class AA quarterfinal.
